Inviting disfellowshipped to the memorial
by wannaexit ini read in a european ex jw forum that this year they are making a special effort to invite not only the inactive but also a special effort is made to invite all disfellowshipped.
.
i don't know if this as always been a common practice, or something started anew so they can boast about the numbers of attendees..

I was called by two elders from my old hall. I've been out since 2007 and this was the first time they've ever called me to invite me to the memorial. -

Were you surprised when you went in service for the first time....
by Muddy Waters inwere you surprised when you went in service for the first time (this question is prob for those who were not born-in) --.
when i first had the "privilege" of going in field service as an unbaptized publisher, i remember feeling so surprised at everybody's apparent slowness.
all the talks at the kh emphasized how we were in the last days, doing a life saving, critical, never to be repeated, work, etc., yet you get in the car group and ignore people walking right by or coming toward the car, and then slowly walk from house to house.

We drove around a lot and always stopped for coffee. Our congo got a special needs talk about all the time we were spending in the coffee shops and the CO told us we couldn't all take a break at the same coffee shop - we should spread out more. Ugh, I hated service. Very few in my old congo even liked service.

What do you do when your job makes you wanna puke your face off?
by Julia Orwell ini'm talking like makes you physically sick and emotionally frazzled just thinking about it.
i'm talking like you hate it to the point you'd rather go without than work at it just for the money.
you'd live on cheap korean packet noodles for the next year instead of exchanging your labor for this job's money.. well, this is how i feel about teaching and tutoring.

A DOUBLE LIFE - What's the worst case you've seen
by sizemik inlots of jw's lead a double life.
many are young people that simply go through the motions until they can free themselves .
others have relatives or family still trapped .

An exremely pompous PO from the other congragation that shared our hall was living quite the double life. He lorded his "power" as an elder over everyboy. His kids were always getting special privileges in the hall and parts in assemblies. His wife was the chief elderette. Turns out he had a mistress set up in an apartment the whole time he had been an elder. Just more proof that Holy Spirit is directing the appointment of elders.

Why do we have Assemblies?
by Rattigan350 inwhy do we have assemblies?
was the topic of the book/brochure study last week.. the answer not presented is that they are the organization's black friday.
stores do black friday as a loss leader to get people into the stores to spend money on more pricey stuff, not discounted.. assemblies are put on to give away books and other literature and have dramas to get people in to donate and contribute more than normally done.. yes, religion is a business.

by BluePill2 inbefore i dive into the actual write-up of this experience, let me put some things straight.. i have thought long and hard if i should write more about my experiences during the 10+ years at different branches.
during these years i worked from financial department, service department, home office and different it assignments.
as you can imagine one sees and hears and reads a lot of stuff going through different stations in different countries.

Hi BluePill2,
Every time I read posts like yours I feel more confident about my decision to leave the JW's. Thank you for taking the time to post!

Once I left i started voting for everything I could. People fought and died so I could vote - the best way to honor them is to exercise my rights.

I sent a letter in to the elders. I had a week to change my mind before it was announced that I was DA'd. Everyone knew before the announcement becuase I was shunned at the store and local coffee shops. I'm glad it happened otherwise I might have changed my mind. Anything you send in will be kept in a file in the library. My advice to you - walk away and never look back. Any explanation you give will be attributed to your "mentally diseased state" and your being influenced by Satan.
