the family of a jehovah's witness who died after repeatedly refusing blood transfusions can't sue the hospital where doctors begged for a chance to save her life, a state appeals court ruled.. the case, outlined in an opinion by superior court judge jacqueline o. shogan, involves a convergence of religion, medicine and the law.. its focus is on what happened before terri seels-davila, a jehovah's witness missionary, died after giving birth at hahnemann university hospital in philadelphia in november 2010.. seels-davila, who had been serving on mission with her husband in nicaragua, chose hahnemann because of its "bloodless medicine" program for patients who won't agree to having blood transfusions, including jehovah's witnesses, shogan noted.

the treatment plan for seels-davila called for recycling her own blood back into her system.. yet that proved to be inadequate when complications of her delivery required seels-davila to deliver by cesarean section.

Another waste of a young woman's life. It is just so sad.. The WT corporation will will face a backlash when they eventually get rid of 'their" blood policy

What happened in 1995?

i was born in 1984 so was only 9yo in 1995. i read on various posts on here and on other websites about false expectations about 1975 and 1995. i'm aware of the 1975 failure but what was said in 1995?.

Ok. Let's break this down. For many many years 'Emphasis' is given by the leaders of the ONLY true religion on earth by using the words most importantly. So, for Joe public and the faithful, it's 'LISTEN UP FOLKS'. WE are God's mouth piece, his channel of communication; and according JEHOVAH GOD, he has promised that the new world/age is coming within the lifetime of individuals who actually saw the events of 1914 (ie the outbreak of world war 1). The time when Jesus came into Kingdom power in heaven and Satan hurled to the vicinity of the earth. You therefore must listen to God, trust in God and have faith in God by preaching this message far and wide. It is 'THE TRUTH'

Suddenly this MOST IMPORTANT promise by GOD has subtly been changed to building confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.

So who got the generation teaching wrong then. The Society implied that God had made the promise about the generation who saw the events of 1914 and that they would not pass away. But that promised prediction was actually proven false. It was not God's promise. It was a false teaching by men claiming to be God's channel of communication.

So what damage has this caused?

Well firstly, Just think how that teaching has made God look. People lose faith in God because of such false prophecies. In fact, many have lost faith as a result.

The reality is that it was never God who made such a promise. It was the leaders of a publishing corporation who falsely made such a prediction and shamefully used Jehovah's name as their guaranteed stamp of approval in their literature and emphasized this for years.

Think how angry God must feel when 'men' do such things. Well we do know how Jehovah views such matters. The Governing Body need to be reminded of his warning given to his people of the past. The following statement is something Jehovah definately spoke and should be a warning for all Christian faith groups who presume to prophecy in his name.

Deuteronomy 18:20 (ESV)

'But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die'

at first, i really didn't know what to do after i woke up, but i occupied myself doing research about the wt society.

My family is not completely in the org (The youngest of my sisters is currently studying). My other sister left the org, but she's still convinced it's the truth. I'm worried about her mental health because it has taken a toll on her. It's the indoctrination that has gotten her. I'm glad I left. I can't wait to tell my parents the truth about this org. Hopefully they can understand my experience and my decision

Hi Issa

I'm not sure if your parents are baptized, but be careful about your decision to DA. It is a captive / high control religion in that you cannot leave without consequences. If you have many relatives involved, some if not most will either shun you or limit their association out of 'loyalty' to Jehovah (aka the organisation).

You will find that many here have simply faded to avoid the shunning policy coming into effect.

You need to way things up carefully and allow yourself time to make an informed decision.

My awakening and concern

as many former ex-witnesses, i "woke up" from believing that the jw org is the "truth".

this happened during this month thanks to information from jw-facts and youtube videos about ex-witnesses' experience in this org.

Welcome ISSA,

Thanks for sharing your experience. As humans, we are always inquisitive about what is true and what is false. We can sense when things don't sound right. The Society has fallen into the same trap as the Pharisees of Jesus day by making up endless rules. On top of that, they complicated the word of God with interpretations that simply don't make sense. A mixture of truth and falsehood.

Eg rev 5:10 says the holy ones will rule OVER the earth in the NWT. Something I could never get my head around ie how can you rule the nation's from the sky and invisibly?

Yet pretty much every other Bible says UPON the earth or ON the earth. Now that makes sense and ties in perfectly with the prophecies of the Hebrew scriptures such as Daniel, Isaiah, Psalms

this guy has to have the most courage of anyone i've ever seen or balls the size of basketballs.he actually gives a good talk and has tidbits scattered about throughout his public talk with hints,suggestions,innuendos of the wt organization.i never want to go in another kingdom hall again in my life but would have made an exception just to be in this audience.

Did Jesus pre exist? Yes or no?

when i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.

i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.

also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

John 1:3 (Of Jesus) " All things were made through Him , and without Him NOTHING was made that was made . The world was made through Him "

ln Genesis God spoke and what He spoke came into being . Jesus is called the Logos , the Word of God .

Note in John without Jesus NOTHING was made that was made . So Jesus was not made . The WT adds " else " in there to completely alter the meaning , which is very naughty . So if Jesus was not made then He always existed

To me it makes sense and ties in with Matthew, mark and lukes gospel account of a Jewish Jesus, the son of man, the foretold Messiah. God's word and wisdom now expressed through Jesus.

Also in regards to Michael the archangel. Twice in Hebrews chapter 1, it asks the question 'to which one of the angels did he (God) ever say : you are my son, today, I have become your father......

The answers are so simple, yet the word of God has become so complicated because of mens interpretations.

I can understand you feeling that way. I think each individual has to decide for themselves as to how they would deal with situations. Human relationships are complex. For example, we can rub one another up the wrong way at our work place which can impact on trust in a considerable way.

I would have to say I would accept my relatives if such was the case. In their mind they are loyal to God. In reality they are loyal to a publishing corporation headed by a group of heartless sharlatans. It isn't your families fault they are indoctrinated to such a degree, but as I say every individual has their own way of dealing with such matters.

Jesus was a knew invented god modeled after Serapis, if fact his cult was the start of Christianity. They added elements of other gods like Dionysus and Mithra to the mix to gain followers. Serapis was already a mix of Egyptian and Greek gods and they just took it a step farther with Jesus. Most of Christianity is modeled after the Egyptian religions

From a Trinitarian perspective, I would agree with 'some' of the above.

From a non Trinitarian perspective, Jesus /Yeshua fulfilled all the prophecies foretold about the coming Messiah. Many eye witnesses saw Jesus and the miracles he performed. Christianity could never have spread so quickly in the first century given the impact he had made during his short life here on earth.
