I wish I had not gone to the meeting last night
by stillin inthe first thing i saw when i went in was the two video screens having the watchtower singers chorus doing a number.
the sound wasn't up enough to make out the song, but the video was grotesque.
the singers were swaying to the music, all independent of each other, no discipline, actually sloppy-looking.

The average Witness will continue to follow Watchtower leadership whether right or wrong.
by UnshackleTheChains ini hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.
it's truly bizarre!!.
clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.

"If the Watchtower says the sky is green then it is green, and our eyes must be wrong
I think it boils down to human nature. Collectively, people generally go along with the crowd.
Normally, questioning the policies and practices of any organisation can be a positive influence in moving an organisation forward. But when constructive critisicm is completely curtailed by the leadership of an organisation, then this can only lead to negative criticism and bad publicity. We see this happening with the Watchtower Society today.
Yet, despite all the bad publicity in the media, Jehovahs Witnesses continue to look to its leadership for direction 'regardless'!

by pale.emperor inthis poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.

Absolutely shocking. A young girl manipulated to ignore her own sister. I'd love to know the sisters age.

JWs shunning other active JWs
by Roger Kirkpatrick inhow many others have noticed how common it is for active jws to ostracize and shun other active jws?
as far back as i can recall, jws have had an ongoing problem with cliques within congregations, and special needs talks would be given from time to time to address that trend.
but, it seems to me that the practice has become even more pronounced with entire congregations actively shunning other congregations.

I always wondered though how all these judgmental Witnesses who ignored me were supposed to rise to the occasion to help during the "great tribulation
Yeah... they'd be too busy up the hills in their cliques (comparing their 'Go bags'), than worry about brother or sister leftout

I remember a Watchtower study a year or so ago and recall how we EVEN need to be careful of our associations within the congregation. I came away from the study feeling paranoid after it. This religion doesn't unite people in love. It judges and divides. They go way over the top to ensure everybody is in line with Watchtower thought control.
A while ago, an elderly sister told me she doesn't actually really know anyone in the hall. She knows people's names and says hello etc, but doesn't know anyone intimately. She has never socialised very much with members of the congregation and she's been in it for decades. She said her 'worldly' daughter is always coming round to visit her and support her. She gets SFA from the hall. She sounded really hurt when telling me all this and felt sorry for her as clearly been bottling it up. I felt like opening up and saying ' d'ya wanna know what I think'?
