But out of curiosity, does anyone know of any individuals who have successfully met someone this way?

it seems that every 2nd witness often posts pictures of themselves at conventions, or out in 'service'.
but i have noticed that they never seem to post anything about the actual "spiritual content" of their activity!
instead, it is pictures of them with their witness "friends", along with some contrite comment like #bestlifeever (arrghhh).
They never discuss spiritual matters because they are not allowed their own views on matters. Everything is already laid out for us in WT literature. The GB do all the thinking for us.
A perfect example is when I was on holiday with some witnesses/aquaintances. I tried to initiate a conversation on a particular scripture and get their thoughts. I had one response saying the organisations view is blah blah blah. Then the subject completely changed to something else other than religion.
Jdubs are robots. They drink the koolaid and go along with things. They are not stimulated to have a view point on scriptures.
i would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

I went through what you are going through right now several years ago. I also said my goodbyes under a different forum name and earnestly wanted to be a practicing JW (I had faded for about 6 years at that point).
Over the years however, I would lurk back here due to some of the stuff emanating from Watchtower and eventually came back to this site.
Why?
Well.....when you bottle things up for so long, you just have to vent. You cannot open up your heart about your deepest thoughts to other JWs Because of the fear and guilt complex we experience. So to offload, you come here and speak your mind.
Note: I have a strong belief in God, but my views on scripture differ from Watchtower. I only attend the meetings now and again for purely social reasons because of family and friends.
Best of luck to you as do understand where you are coming from though.

the first thing i saw when i went in was the two video screens having the watchtower singers chorus doing a number.
the sound wasn't up enough to make out the song, but the video was grotesque.
the singers were swaying to the music, all independent of each other, no discipline, actually sloppy-looking.
Yep. The old bunker video rears its head again. I'm sitting there thinking OMG 😶
on my way into town from my office.
two carts set up a few feet from each other.
one manned by a man and woman (i assume they're a couple) in their late 30s.. the guys walks off to the other cart as im walking by, i wasn't going to approach but the woman holding the awake!
The guy sounded like a right douche bag
i hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.
it's truly bizarre!!.
clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.
"If the Watchtower says the sky is green then it is green, and our eyes must be wrong
I think it boils down to human nature. Collectively, people generally go along with the crowd.
Normally, questioning the policies and practices of any organisation can be a positive influence in moving an organisation forward. But when constructive critisicm is completely curtailed by the leadership of an organisation, then this can only lead to negative criticism and bad publicity. We see this happening with the Watchtower Society today.
Yet, despite all the bad publicity in the media, Jehovahs Witnesses continue to look to its leadership for direction 'regardless'!

this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.
This is brain washing at its ugliest.

Absolutely shocking. A young girl manipulated to ignore her own sister. I'd love to know the sisters age.
how many others have noticed how common it is for active jws to ostracize and shun other active jws?
as far back as i can recall, jws have had an ongoing problem with cliques within congregations, and special needs talks would be given from time to time to address that trend.
but, it seems to me that the practice has become even more pronounced with entire congregations actively shunning other congregations.
I always wondered though how all these judgmental Witnesses who ignored me were supposed to rise to the occasion to help during the "great tribulation
Yeah... they'd be too busy up the hills in their cliques (comparing their 'Go bags'), than worry about brother or sister leftout
