That is ..they view the watchtower society as God's only true religion on earth. Everything outside of the watchtower is satanic.
That's why the JW brain goes into lock down
i know we often talk of the mind control and how jw's believe what they are taught because they are controlled as to the information they receive, but i think the mind control goes frighteningly beyond simply keeping information away from them.. the jw mind is in lockdown.
it simply cannot accept facts, evidence, reasoning or whatever that goes against what they believe.
they cannot assimilate and consider an argument, it is not that they are being awkward, or willfully blind, their minds are so shut down they are incapable of taking in what is being presented.. i am aware of how, in common with other cults and high control groups the j.w org achieves this state among its members, but how on earth do we open such a solidly closed mind ?.

i am in the process of writing to parliament about the practice of shunning by jehovah's witnesses.
what i need to clarify if the practice is 'specifically' mentioned in any of the books used for bible study/ recruitment leading up to baptism?.
i would be grateful if anyone could clarify this in case i get my facts wrong when writing my letter..
I am writing to the Scottish parliament to highlight that the watchtower is duplicitous in how they inform interested ones with regards to their shunning policy. What's more, young teenagers approaching baptism don't realise they are under undue influence and not capable of understanding the seriousness of their baptism and watchtower policy.
For example, in the Nov 22 1998 awake magazine, the society discusses the human rights declaration and go on to quote article 18 about how "everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and Religion: this right includes freedom to change his religion......."
Watchtower promotes this view to the general public, yet they violate this human right when someone chooses to leave the organisation by using the control mechanism of shunning.
What's more, the section in the organised book on disfellowshipping and disassociation is not really clear in that individuals are unaware that they are to be completely shunned full stop, which includes their close relatives who are Jehovah's witnesses.
I personally can't recall going through this section as got baptized shortly after I finished the live forever book!
I was oblivious to the shunning policy and only realised what this involved years after I was baptized.

Much appreciated

with all the leaks coming out of bethel, is it likely we will ever see a high ranking member become a whistleblower and expose watchtower - like that of ray franz'..

hi - first some context - i have been pimo for about 20 years now and so have been to a lot of assemblies in that time.
last weekend i went to a circuit assembly and for the first time afterwards i was able to talk directly to someone who knows i'm out.
i realised then that although i didn't agree with any teachings (i sat picking holes in the arguements as usual) the experience of being there had affected me - the way of life started feeling normal as did the overall way of viewing the world.
I am currently trying to deprogram. I watch you tube videos as much as I can to reinforce this. I am also reading deprogramming books such as the cult of mind control.
Of course there is the family and peer pressure that can make things difficult too.
i decided to attend my 2nd scottish exjw meetup and what a blast.
so many experiences.
it was incredibly engaging to actually meet people in the flesh and hearing their personal stories.. the damage the watchtower organisation causes to peoples lives is absolutely disgusting.

The damage the watchtower organisation causes to peoples lives is absolutely disgusting. Their cruel man made policies are anything but Christian.
It confirms to me that the watchtower organisation is up there with other high control groups/cults that outwardly masquerades as a quaint benign Christian faith group.
ok.. we have often heard secret recordings online of jc hearings.
but, what i would like to know is if individuals are entitled to the right of officially recording their judicial hearings?.
supposing i was to attend a judicial committee and i explained up front that i would like to record the proceedings and then place a dictaphone on the table.
Hey folks. Thanks for the replies, including the links. Very helpful 😉

For example. Supposing I was to attend a judicial committee and I explained up front that I would like to record the proceedings and then place a dictaphone on the table. Are the elders breaking the law by not allowing me the right to record the meeting?
Any thoughts?
well, i finally got round to reading this book.
having read many positive reviews, i thought i would give it a blast.
i am trying to deprogram myself from watchtower group think and avoid going back because of family and peer pressure.. hopefully this book will give me the tools i need to do this.
