Interesting article considering what's happening begging for money in the congregations
by JakeM2012 inhttp://www.cnn.com/2015/06/14/us/sunday-stickup/index.html.
i thought this article had some interesting interesting comments including this, "if a pastor or church leader has ever told you that the bible commands christians to tithe or give 10% of their income; hit you up for multiple offerings during one service; made you march up front to give; asked you to donate to a mysterious "building fund" or give a "first-fruit" offering; or even given special recognition to big givers in your congregation, lee and other pastors have a message for you:.
you are getting played.. these rituals, they say, violate new testament teachings about how and why people should give.

"He has been removed", the church member said."
"Wellington Girls' College principal Julia Davidson said it was horrendous, and questioned why schools had not been notified by police. "I would have thought the police would have let us know - that's just so creepy."
So the Wellington Girls' College principal was concerned that the police did not let them know to protect their students. Bravo to her.
Further, The elder announces to the press that the man has been removed and is not welcome back. But wait, if he were an accused pediphile everyone in the "Christian Congregation" is supposed to maintain confidentiality? and no one is supposed to talk about it even to the press.
Am I missing something here?

If one gets their license suspended or decides to give up driving to take public transportation, what are the consequences?"
Suspension of their license for a limited amount of time, higher insurance rates for a few more years. But they can still talk with their family.
In a few years if they are not repeat offenders, it will be over with. It will be Dead history and not even on a driving record, which seems to never be the case for anything that a young person that makes a mistake in the congregation can experience, they will pay for that inexperience and mistake forever.

Education makes you leave God
by FusionTheism inquote from the watchtower, simplified edition, september 2015, "how can we show that we love jehovah?".
higher education often makes them lose their love for god..

I'll have to mention that for me when I finally went to seek a higher education, that Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's gig was already up. I was just looking for a way to get out of it. I recognized that their "admonition" about education was flawed, although initially, I didn't realize that I would eventually reject so many of their teachings (practically all).
However, even a simple business degree education taught me the key elements of critical thinking. I already had serious doubts about the teachings of WTBTS and had experienced the backside of not having a formal education. Quite frankly, I didn't believe all that "mumbo jumbo" that WTBTS was dispensing as "food at the proper time" because most of it was smelly, rotting, spoiled food even before it was printed. But after putting the different elements of critical thinking together and investigating WatchTower's history, I was able to see that they were totally full of Bull Butter, (I'm trying to be nice).
I made my exit plan and was successful. Thank someone, (ok, let's thank Simon and others)

Governing Body
by Daym123 inhello,.
i am currently in a discussion with a jw about the governing body.. i have read alot of articles regarding it, however whenever i bring up what i have read, i am refuted with scripture, such as acts 15, where they say there was a governing body, who sent out elders and men etc.. does anyone have a website that i may not know of, that has answers to what they refute with?
or any help here or good thought provoking questions to respond with would be much appreciated.. thank you kindly.

There is talk that Fred Franz did at the Gilead Graduation in 1975-76? after it was announced about the new power structure with the Governing Body. It was available on Commentary Press site as a download. It is very informative, but Fred Franz didn't go for the idea of a governing body.
Try to clean your mind of previous beliefs and re-read Acts 15, starting in verse one. Notice that certain ones from Jerusalem came to Antioch teaching that you had to be circumcised. Acts 15:2, "This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. 3 The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad. 4 When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them."
Notice that the congregation in Antioch sent Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem to straighten out the teachings from Jerusalem. The congregations in Antioch also authorized all of the missionary trips of Paul and Barnabas. It was not a fictional governing body in Jerusalem.
After Paul's missionary Journeys he did not report to Jerusalem, he went back to Antioch and told them. In fact there are times that Paul and Barnabas went to or traveled through Jerusalem and never contacted any of the elders in the congregation.
Jehovah's Witnesses have totally warped the whole account. There is more I just don't have time at the moment. But that is a good thread.

"Its operation cannot be observed. It cannot be reproduced. And it cannot make accurate predictions. Can evolution even be considered a scientific hypothesis? The same encyclopedia defines a hypothesis as βa more tentative observation of facts [than a theory],β yet lends itself βto deductions that can be experimentally tested.β"
Similar to the unobservable enthronement of Jesus in 1914, or his unobservable second return in 1919 to appoint a Faithful and Discreet Publishing House to be his sole printing channel to mankind. Or the unobservable "undeniable truth" that in 1925 the end of the world would happen and the holy's would be resurrected, as stated in the "Millions Now Living will Never Die" by J.F. Rutherford. Similar to the disconnect in 1995 from a generation's length, or that in 2009 that Jesus talked about an "overlapping generation"?
Wow, I just don't believe how anyone could believe in a scientific hypothesis, can you?

Newspaper article: 'Rise of ISIS and earthquakes are WARNINGS before ARMAGEDDON destroys Earth'
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/581439/rise-isis-earthquakes-warnings-before-armageddon-apocalypse-end-destroys-volcanoes-earth.
the "end" of mankind, which has been long predicted by jehovah's witnesses, could happen as soon as this year - according to latest announcement from the christian religion.. in the latest edition of jehovah's witnesses monthly publication watchtower, an article translated into 700 languages - urges people to join the religion or face certain death when god sends his forces from the heavens to "remove all world leaders," "exterminate his enemies" and "rid the world of satan".. critics have lambasted the warning of a coming armageddon as yet another "failed prediction" by the religion, which has previously delivered similar alerts such as a foretold apocalypse in 1975.. indeed, jehovah's witnesses have been warning people of the need to recognise jehovah or face certain death when the "end" comes for more than 100 years.. the christian-based religion was founded in the 1870s by charles taze russell in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, us, as an offshoot from the bible studies movement.. today, there are 8.2million jehovah's witness evangelists, while 19.9 million celebrated their annual memorial festival marking christ's death - worldwide in 2014.. followers do not believe in military service and will not accept blood transfusions.. in a new eight-page article, watchtower said jehovah's witness leaders are now "convinced" humans are in their "final days" before the armageddon.. they cite an increase in global armed conflict, such as the rise of the islamic state terror group, as well as natural disasters such as volcanoes and earthquakes.. the lengthy article, written by an unnamed author, said: "will god let humans continue to dominate one another and threaten the future of mankind?
no, as we have seen, he will step in and bring an end to centuries of misery and oppression.

If WTBTS has so much inside information from being the one and only true "God's Channel", why didn't the WTBTS have any expectations/predictions/"prophecies" that ISIS would appear on the world scene and make a war into the Christian/radical Islam conflict and bring about Armageddon? Or at least the U.N. turning against the world's religions because of ISIS? Duh? It's just more Fear and Guilt that they sell soooooo well.
And is there really an increase in earthquakes? Ok, yes they have some reported in the Dallas Texas area and it is considered caused from fracking, Not life threatening. But really, I thought this subject of an increase in earthquakes has been beaten like a dead horse.
