I got to the point that I could not let the younger (next) generation who I had a good repoire with would look to me as an example. Just the evidence that there are witnesses around for 50 years in the hall is too much encouragement for a young person. One circuit assembly they had parts about the youths giving up higher education and had several talk about their decision. They both sounded like that's not what they wanted to do but they were made to do it. I wanted to go to them privately and say go back to school before it is too late.

I did, as Knorr would say, "some of the things" you commented on. The last year that I can remember service, there was a young father working for $8.00 an hour who was feeding it to the CO during the car ride that he wanted to become a pioneer. I waited until the young father and I were out of the car and told him in a nice way, that he had no business pioneering and that he should work to support his family. He later thanked me and his family still communicates with mine.
Nice list of stuff to do. I would agree, that they are doing a very good job of tearing themselves down without our help. Gamaliel said something that if the work of Jesus was from God don't mess with it, but if it was from men, it would eventually end. Same applies to modern wt.

Reduction of Announcements
by wisdomfrombelow instarting the week of september 3rd they will cease having local announcement as part of the service meeting.
is there going to be a much reduction of the letters sent to the congregation?
will everyone be expected to read the bulletin board to know what is going on?

I used to love being assigned the second or third part on the service meeting and the brother giving the announcements would read several letters, still list who is cleaning the KH, who is mowing, report you time, CO visiting and meals, etc. already take up his 5 or 10 minutes, comment about how he was running overtime and then plow right ahead with two presentations of the wt and awake which took another 6 minutes. I would get up on the stage and introduce the title of the part, and say, "Well, it's time to close our meeting, please stand and sing song number xx". And then I would pray and thank Jehovah that the meeting was OVER!

when the truth cannot speak truth (read this Brooklyn and lurkers)
by Aussie Oz inthe whole court victory of candace brings into sharp focus the fundamental flaw with the jehovah's witnesses, and one that all jws need to think on because it has absolutely nothing to do with 'apostate' teachings, their cherished doctrines or persecution.. when the truth can no longer speak the truth, it has become the lie.. it should be obvious (but will not be) to all jws that the watchtower society, its leaders and any other entity related to it, are not able to morally defend their position.
being unwilling to own up and publicly admit the policies on abuse perpertrators has been deliberatly flawed, that they have failed the children and families demonstrates they can no longer speak truth.. that they cannot apologise says they cannot speak truth, that they would appeal a court of law for chastising them by awarding such a payout says they cannot speak truth.. that the governing body hide behind a legal corporation and its legal department says they cannot speak truth, for the truth is out.
the truth is that their 'signed' policy letters to elders detailing instructions on how to comply with laws while not really complying, on how to destroy documents and how to draw up new lists after removing names are now in the public domain like it or not.

Thought Reform and the Psychology of the 'Safeguard Your Heart!' 2012 Convention
by breakfast of champions into make attendance at my second district convention "mentally out" both a little more bearable and meaningful, i decided to take some notes of key points as if i were an outsider studying the thought reform methods of jehovah's witnesses.
at first, i was only going to share these notes with my therapist, but inspired by the "parsing the watchtower double-speak" thread, i figured i would share my amateur analysis with everyone.

Breakfast of Champions. You obviously ate your Wheaties Saturday morning. An excellent summation of the day, and comment. A few weeks ago my wife, who is out but just does not want to talk about it, said after reading a wt article, that wt doesn't want you to exercise or use any of your God given defense mechanisms, like the conscience, free will, or personal sense of right and wrong.
So yesterday I read the notes you had taken and your comments so that I could continue the conversation from a few weeks ago. I was thankful in the way that you presented you commentary because it made the conversation easier. We both came to the conclusion that the "everyone is evil that is not a JW" and "if your not for us you are against us" propaganda will eventually lead her family to dissing us.
