Compound Complex, a simple wrist watch? Interesting. At least a broken wrist watch that is stopped is accurate twice a day. Humm, a broken cheap wristwatch has more accuracy than Watchtower's navigators.

Terry, I appreciate your highlighting this particular navigational error of the WTBTS.
My Mom said that she had a "Bible Student" in 1962 and had explained to the student this scripture with the then current understanding that the Higher Powers were Jehovah and Jesus, as you pointed out that JW's believed from 1929-1962. The person with whom my mother was studying confidently disagreed with her explanation, however, Mom stood by what the Faithful and Discreet slave had taught and defended the position.
Mom attended the District Convention in the summer of 1962 when this "new light" was explained in a talk. Mom tells that after the convention, she had to go back to the "student" and explain that she (the student) had been correct and my Mom humbly took the blame for not understanding it correctly. I don't think this "student" ever progressed to baptism, but I recall my Mom saying how embarrassing it was for her.
It is scriptures like this, Romans 13:1-7, that with basic reasoning skills the interpretation is quite clear. The fact is noteworthy that Christendom always knew who the superior authorities where when WTBTS did not.
For me personally, this was one of those flip flops that I learned when but a child that threw a red flag up that raised concerns about Jehovah's Witnesses teachings. Unfortunately, it took me another 40 years to wake up:(

A friend sent me a link about the King James Bible translating the "Divine Name". Maybe this is why there are no new NWT bibles available.
The web site states:
"With history behind us and hundreds of Bible prophecies fulfilled, there is no Biblical mystery at all as to who it is that is the Christ. However with God’s name removed from most Bibles and replaced with LORD not much is logical about the use of the words lord or christ. Why do we say that? Lord means owner or master and christ as a title means anointed by a lord or master."

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

This is one of the articles that my dad photocopied for me from the bound volumes, when I told him I wanted to go to college to be a structural engineer.
Another article he copied for me stated that there was not enough time to even finish a four year education as the system would be over with by then.
This was in the 70's that we had this "discussion" and I reminded him of the false expecations for the year 1975, of which he had totally bought into. Unfortuneately, I didn't have the strength to leave the family and proceed with my better judgement. This is one decision I Kick Myself For day after day.
Again, How could my family have been so fooled by this corporation???? Bull S*****??????

How successful we're quickly builds in your area
by joe134cd ini remember hearing about quickly builds how this was a sign of jehovah's spirit that the kh could be built in 3 days.
but what i am wondering is just how successful we're these builds.
i can think of a couple of halls that were built by the quickly built methods that i would suspect they would of lost money on.

Biometrics, I don't know where you live, but I remember that same line of thought that in the end days of the "end days" there would be people lining up for studies on the Kingdom Hall porch.
I worked on a Kingdom Hall with 300 seats in it. Afterward, It was always half full, except for the memorial, it was still comfortable but you could still find a seat, but it was full, AkA reaching capacity. Personally, I liked having a whole row to my family.

I appreciate all the personal experiences,.. this has helped me. I'm 50 and remember having to take a note home from my first grade teacher to my mother that said I was not allowed to bring any more books (Truth Books, etc) to other students or use the class to as an audience to "preach to . It was totally embarrassing. I wish I had a copy of the letter, my mom probably used it for an experience of how the world was persecuting her children.
The issue didn't go away when I went to music class because during times of the year the class would sing "seasonal" songs, but I had to personally explain to the teachers that I couldn't sing certain songs, all of this is in front of the class or at least where they could hear. We were instructed at the KH and by parents to not just sing but to give an explanation of why. This was all before any JW Education brochures.
I also had to personally explain to the teachers why I wouldn't salute the flag, or say the pledge and just stand, the National Anthem you remain seated. Here again, we just couldn't not say the pledge, we had to give an explanation as to why.
Some might incorrectly argue that this made me strong; but it just made me feel like I did not belong in society and like an ass. When I was in fourth grade I remember being asked by a student that lived in the neighborhood if I wanted to play catch. Just throwing the ball back and forth. My brother turned me into my parents for "associating with worldly people". My mom bought me a net that would bounce the ball back to me, therefore, I would not have to associate with worldly people again.
When I was in high school I had a friend that asked me over to his house so we could ride horses, as his family had several. (We both lived in the country) My dad protested and forbid me going because it was with a worldly person. I asked him outright, "Dad, do you go to lunch with some of the contractors that you work with"? and I named specific names. He eventually let me go ride horses. Unfortuneatly, even if you were "permitted" to go, you had a guilty conscience and couldn't just enjoy the situation, as you were in the midst of horible "worldly people". The Witness attitude affected everything.

One ex-brother illustrated it to me this way; being an active witness is like being on a party boat floating down the river. Everyone on board is happy patting each other on the back, using each other for experiences, giving talks, going to dinner parties, invites, life is grand. Then somehow you end up falling off the boat.
While in the water your yelling for help as the boat slowly moves on down stream and the sound and lights gets further and further away. You can hear the laughing of the witnesses on the boat as it gets further away. But no one hears your screams for help. You swim ashore, and after spending the night cold and wet, you wake up to the smell of coffee and bacon. You stumble down a small trail on the riverbank and find others that have fallen off the boat. You drink coffee, have breakfast, and hear the experiences of a few of the people that have fallen off the river boat. You find that everyone is in various stages of reestablishing their life.

Wow, that sounds familiar.
