I never did like the idea that the congregations kept a record about you and you have no clue what they may be forwarding to then next congregation. My understanding now is those records get purged every 5 years...don't know for sure ( maybe they overlap.) I do recall people moving into a congregation I was in in WV and in no time the elders were in their business so to speak...so it isn't like you can start with a clean slate- unless maybe you are an elder that they privately corrected for messing with kids ( yeah, I know I'm bad ) I knew of one brother who moved to another congregation and years later became able to see the "files" and got to read the very uncomplimentary things that had been written about him. My now passed husband's record was totally lost on it's transit from one congregation to another so he became non existant in a way...He was unhappy and blamed me because I had given elders the congregation name .Many of us would likely be shocked if we knew what was written about us. I wonder how many would become baptized if they knew a secret record was going to be kept about them.

Private and Prayerful Deliberations!?
by Lost in the fog init is more likely that the notes will have the elders' doodles and scribbles in the margin rather than any evidence of prayerful deliberation.
or maybe it's just a ploy to give the boe more time to open the blue envelope and sanitise the content.
we'll have to wait and see what happens, if anything.. https://www.nsnews.com/bc-news/bc-jehovahs-witnesses-challenge-record-production-order-in-court-5691559.

2022 convention stand-outs, clift notes, comments?? the good, the bad, the ugly...
by enoughisenough inhere is the thing: i tried several times to watch the convention...i just couldn't seem to forge ahead with it.
the reason i wanted to was to be able to engage in conversation about it with some of my old friends that communicate by phone that don't know i have disassociated.
i want to be able to slip in seeds of doubt, but at the same time i have to seem a bit current...) so i welcome to know any take outs, commentary, good or bad, or the video plots, etc.

I had seen a couple of youtube videos where he was calling babies enemies of God and my thought was about Jesus saying to allow the little children to come to him...Jesus never considered them enemies. If I had been a parent there with a baby, I would have been crushed. So what does that mean for the parents? Are they to be able to punish the children more or get them baptized earlier so as to "save" them? What thoughts and feelings when viewing that?

making out like a bandit
by enoughisenough inhere is a practice i only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...some of you may have experience on the subject.
i always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected.
i personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding.

New and improved?
by tenyearsafter ini have a family member who had been df'ed for 15 years or so...recently they reinstated as a jw.
when i asked what motivated them to make that decision, the response was to be able to see family and old friends.
they insisted that things were different now.

if i apply to be reinstated--will i have to give up atheism ? Its kinda easy that way. Like being one of Jehovah.s Unwitnesses.
belief in the governing body is more important than God. If the Bible says one thing and the GB another, you have to believe the GB. seems like you should be good to go!

someone
small amount of letter writing or informal witnessing....I turned in time right up until the point I decided ENOUGH ...I was doing that so they wouldn't discern I was PIMO...BUT-I wasn't encourageing anyone to be JW, but rather it was important to have a relationship with Jehovah and His Son Jesus Christ. In other words, the time I was turning in was literally against the JW. ( but I was sharing the Bible ) On a get to know me call from a couple of Brothers ( after being here for over 10 years ) I was told to turn on my camera. I got to doing it before and after but not during...During the meeting, I had decided I would go about the house doing whatever I chose and would check back in the zoom and hold my hand up occassionally...I was totally playing false and I hated that and I am not judging anyone who has good reasons to play that game, but for me, I decided to force myself into writing a disassociation letter. ( meaning I told the only person I considered to be a real friend because I felt it not fair to play false to her and although she said she wouldn't, she ratted me out JUST AS I KNEW SHE WOULD -so I wrote the elders...) What to say if ever confronted: I can think of a few things...before I had decided to totally out myself, I was looking forward to the in hall meetings and getting to see the others. But here was the thing-as mentioned the shots didn't keep you from getting and spreading the "disease", but if others knew you didn't take the shots, they wouldn't want to associate with you anyway. I knew I was unacceptable on that level. The other thing is I had watched enough doctors speaking about how people had gotten sick just from being around those vaxxed because they were "shedding" ( some think I am wacked out ) So I really didn't feel comfy about going around them ( I spent a day helping a vxxed sister and go the most unual sore throat I ever had in my life) So depending upon your choice of shot or not shot, you can say you choose not to be around those who didn't obey and don't have the shots or you can say you aren't good with being around those who are "shedding" God knows what. The other thing that was a deal breaker is the wearing of masks. Those going to meetings are wearing masks! I read researcher's reports and most of the mask work like a gnat going through a wire fence...and I personally can barely breath with those blasted things on. Maybe you don't breathe well with them! Health is a good excuse not to return in person.

I don't expect the WT will be organizing disaster relief for the recent KY flooding, as there is no money in it for them.
That would be interesting to know the follow up of. As to living in a known flood plain, I don't know if you can get a mortgage without flood insurance.
On another note, years ago, this happened...a divorced sister couldn't maintain her home (before her husband took up with another woman, they decided to tear down the old home she owned and put in a new modular or doublewide-whatever ) The foundation wasn't right and the house was showing signs of the shoddy foundation. I complained to the elders that they would go for miles and at their own expense to fix the homes of brothers and sisters they didn't know, while they didn't care that her home was falling off it's foundation. This did guilt trip them into speaking with her about it, but by this time, she couldn't afford the house payments and she had decided to abandon the place. My Mom didn't go to church, but a church group from where my sister attended went to my Mom's and repairs her old back porch. ( some churches have these volunteers for their members-JWs don't) What's up with that...you can go miles away and assist while a local person without means have their home fall down around them. Maybe others have better experience. I am not suggesting that members of a congregation owe us home maintainance, but I am calling out the hypocrisy.

Here is a practice I only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...Some of you may have experience on the subject. I always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected. I personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding. What I didn't know was about the homeowners giving over the insurance money to the branch when the brothers repaired the homes. I am curious to know just how that is handled...Do the homeowners agree to it before the repairs? Are they emotionally blackmailed into it after the repairs? How is it decided whose home gets worked on? I titled this making out like a bandit because some insurances no doubt had factored in replacement ( which may include building, which requires paying for labor ) The labor came free by the volunteers ! Some household items would not need to be purchased again because people would give the homeowners furniture and aplliances. (I personally have provided furnishings that were better than what was lost-not bragging-just the facts!)

the sounding of the trumpet
by enoughisenough ini will risk showing my ignorance but i had some questioning thoughts in my head lately...maybe those more scholarly than me have insight.
jw teach that the anointed who now die go immediately to heaven.
when lazarus had died martha said she knew he would rise on the last day.

a few more of my thoughts on the subject...The "bible teach" book referring to the 144,000 said they would be resurrected during Jesus Presence. 1 cor 15:23 but each one in his own proper order: Christ the first fruits afterward theose who belong to the Christ during his presence. ( of which the claim is 1914 ) other translations say his coming or when he comes back. The last day and judgement day appear to be the same day from what bit of sorting out I have done. As far as Jesus ( coming back is concerned, 1Cor. 11: 26 For wheneveryou eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes. If one were to believe the JW teaching that Christ came in 1914, why are they still having memorial? If one were to believe the 1914 date, then that would be "the last day" for the claim is that is when he started resurrecting the "anointed' to heaven. Jesus plainly told his followers in the 6th chp of John that he would resurrect them on the "last day". Daniel was told that he would stand up for his part at the End of the days-which would be a last day. If any of my thinking is sound, it debunks 1914 and the faithful and discreet slave being anointed and going immedially to heaven when they die. As I am understanding it NO ONE gets resurrected until the last day when Jesus is evidently present That would also all the ones who have died and people think they are in heaven looking down upon them. /// Rev. 11 is about the 7th trumpet ( the last one ) vs 18 But the nations became wrathful and your own wrath came, and the appinted time came for the dead to be judged and to REWARD you slaves the prophets and the holy one and those fearing your name...and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth. 1 Cor 15:52 in a moment ,in the blink of an eye, DURING the LAST trumpet, For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised up incorruptible and we will be changed....WE are here. Those ruining the earth are here! The last trumpet ( the 7th ) hasn't come about yet...so the last DAY isn't here ( I don't see Daniel ) So where I am sitting, I don't think the first resurrection has started where in immorality is put on, let alone the second resurrection. So much for my circular reasoning and ramblings.

thank you for your post...When you know people who have died or otherwise been seriously injured, then you don't buy that false bill of goods when they are telling you to trust them because Jehovah trust them...( Bible says not to trust in "nobles" ) You won't back down when they are trying to tell you not to listen to conspiracy theories, because you know the truth of it. There is an article up on the webpage not to listen to conspiracy theories...They are parroting and protecting the crooked governments.
