The number of baptisms are not a clear indicator. In many countries, like India, baptisms were cancelled altogether since March 2020. No baptisms were allowed by the branch in red and green -zone covid areas.

Technically speaking, Pandemic is just the sign of the last days.
JW's are waiting for the call of 'Peace and Security". and you cant have a proclamation of peace and security in the midst of a pandemic.
So, the vaccine is needed for Armageddon to come.

Sorry that you had to go through all of that. My post was not to minimize the pain and suffering of what others have gone through, and I sincerely apologize if it has come across that way.
I may not fully understand the pain that some members have gone through, and I hope the best for all.
i just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.
even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.
this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.
lived in nice houses with nice cars and had a retirement in place. And to add insult to injury, they all had kids and grand-kids. Then she asked my jw friend, "Why didn't Jehovah bless me? I did everything right"
She signed the vow of poverty before entering Bethel. She got what she signed up for.

The problem with a cult is actually the members who agree to abide by and enforce their rules. In the JW world, it's not the Governing Body that makes the membership grow, but the die-hard deep-in members who make the local congregation flourish.
A cult has power, not because of the leaders, but the followers. Many JW's voluntarily subscribed to their shunning policy when getting baptized, without getting mentally prepared to face the shunning themselves.
In my life as a JW, I chose to become a JW (no one forced me), and I played an active part in enforcing their shunning policy for many years. I felt it was right, however, when I became the shunned one, the reality dawned on me.
Rather than blaming the WT, it's just that I am reaping the results of my choices, and facing the same behavior that I did to others. Maybe it's even now.
JW's are not a cult. Their followers have made it one.

He has been busy bringing in 8 million followers, and prime real estate in most countries of the world.
Also, he has been providing enough fodder to keep this site running. Just imagine, if he had brought the end 30 years ago, most of the users of this site would have ended up in paradise.

in talking to jw's, it is apparent that they believe they are the only ones who believe in a paradise earth.
in reality most bible-believing christians believe in a paradise earth, they just don't call it that, they call it the millennium reign.

For a JW, the more complex science becomes, the more he appreciates Jehovah as the brains behind it. Separating Jehovah from science is like separating Elon Musk from Tesla, or Zuckerberg from Facebook.
i cant get my head around how a religion ,like the jehovah`s witnesses can be a not for profit organization ,that profits $ from wheeling and dealing in real estate ventures $ ,and also profits from being a multi media publishing company $ that in its heyday profited from volunteers selling their literature and now its venturing into the digital age of tv imaging ,video conferencing ,dvd`s and whatever else they can use.$$$.
making $$$ profits from all of these activities while still claiming to be a not for profit religion reaping in the $$$ profits selling prophecy (profitsy $$$).
it`s about time governments woke up to this charade ..
Being a 'Not-for-profit' doesn't mean that it doesn't earn profits. Most 'not-for-profits' make sizeable profits, however, that profit is not returned back to the owners. The profit earned is retained in the business and is used to further it.
No matter how we see it, there is no evidence that the profit earned by WT is somehow distributed among the directors or the GB members.
