Diogenesister, This is a superb example of what happens when you try to read what I have not written.

I have clearly mentioned in my response that the JW religion is harmful. However, criminalizing individual JW's or harming them in any way is not the way to tackle the problem. Did you agree with Hitler when he wanted the JW's banned? Did you agree with the way he implemented it?

We shame the JW's that they believe that all the non-jw's would be killed in Armageddon. However, by supporting the Russian ban and wishing ill on individual adherents, we are proving that we are not different from them.

Target the GB, but don't harm individual believers. Arrest the GB, but help the individual JW's. That's what I was trying to say.

Why do ex-JW's talk so much about being ex-JW's?

is it because we were in the cult watchtower compound that we talk about being ex-jw's when we stop being active?

i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.

they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.

Most are pissed at the WT. But deep inside, many are angry that we ourselves agreed to to become a JW and told yes to whether we would follow the 'spirit directed organization and from now would be called as Jehovah's Witnesses".

Angry that we walked ourselves to the baptism pool.

Kohanic, The above statement of yours in the OP prompted me to write to you.

But I can understand what you are trying to say, so no need to apologize. We all have our moments. Cheer.

All of us on this board agree that GB has been putting forth harmful policies and so should be stopped for good, however, none of us agree that individual JW's should be criminalized or harmed in any way. We may hate the GB and some may actively protest at conventions or at the HQ. But no one would want a maniac to enter a convention and start shooting at the witnesses.

Saying that we support Russia in its action against the JW's is like wishing ill on individual JW's. Russia is right in that it is fighting extremism, however, what Russia is doing in criminalizing individual believers will achieve no good as cults thrive on persecution complex. Countries have banned JW's in the past and are banning them now too. However, I have not read any report on how countries have practically benefited by banning them or putting JW's behind bars.

I know what you are trying to say, so no problem with that. We all get emotional especially when we have personally suffered.

Since you have told that Russia is smart because they have banned the witnesses, I would like to know your opinion on the following questions:

1. Since Russia is smart by banning JW's, have you ever felt of moving and settling in Russia since you will be out of the JW influence and would be in a smart country?

2. If banning JW's is smart move, what do you feel about North Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc, who have JW's banned too?

3. Since you are on the Russian side of the debate now, you completely agree that all individual JW's should be criminalized and put into prison for conducting meetings and going for preaching and all individual JW home should be put under constant surveillance. Am I right?

4. Do you feel that the Russian family who was awarded the parental glory award by Putin be arrested for raising their kids as JW's?

5. Since you now agree that JW's are extremists and that you are in a constant fear of being mind-controlled, have you considered moving to one of the countries which don't have JW's?

6. Since you agree that JW's are extremists who should be criminalized, what is your first reaction when you see JW's standing next to a cart? Do you feel like running away in fear? or Do you sense the danger of being instantly mind-controlled and brainwashed if you even pass by the cart?

The watchtower does not have the resources

if you have a look at the december broadcast on jw tv they tell you that they wont be showing you a normal format for december but the 143rd event of gilead because the watchtower does not have the resources other wise to translate it many different lanuages.. with all the cuts the watchtower have made and are going to make you would have thought that they would have lots of resources.

earlier this week a new post on this forum announced that the 2017 worldwide annual service report was available on jw.org.

wow - that's earlier than the statistics for the 2016 service year which appeared in the 2017 yearbook last january!

I don't necessarily agree that they were all considered as "JWs".

Incognito, My reply was in the effect of how JW's counted their members in the annual statistics that are published in the yearbook. As far as I remember, since the time annual reports have been published, all baptized and unbaptized have been calculated in the Peak publishers figure. This way of counting has never changed. But I may be wrong, Please correct me.

Although a person may fully believe and consider themself a JW, living their life as a JW including being active as an unbaptized publisher, they were not considered to be officially a JW but merely an 'associate' until baptism.

I agree with you 100%. But my point was- Have JW's ever made this distinction while publishing their stats? Two counts- Baptized and Unbaptized?

Regarding classification, publishers are also classified into two groups- Inactive and Active and then Regular and Irregular. But they are not published that way.

Yes, they may have changed. But then again- Peak publishers have included Baptized and Unbaptized since the past few decades. That was my point. And since the past few decades, whenever the Wt wanted to give the count of number of JW's in their literature , it has been the peak publishers count.

please explain why "un-baptised publisher" is designated differently than "baptised publisher".

Since this classification is not done for statistical purpose, the only reason is that they do this for their internal pastoral purpose. Like the active and inactive publishers categories.

Despite it being ridiculously easy to be an auxiliary pioneer nowadays with the carts, that number went down compared to 2016.

That's because many Aux Pioneers moved on to become Regular Pioneers.

'Ministers who teach the Bible' appear to include not only baptised publishers but also un-baptised publishers,

JW's have been counting it that way all time long since the time they have started to maintain stats. The ration of JWs to population has been counted the same way every year: Population/Peak Publishers.

In JW land, ministers who teach the bible (Publishers) refers to all JW's who go for field service and turn in reports. All unbaptized publishers are required to regularly go for preaching, conduct return visits and bible studies and turn in their monthly field service reports. So technically, unbaptized publishers too fall into the category of "Minsters who teach the Bible" and hence they include it in their numbers.
