Further education

i just saw on a video that there has been a change about further education.

here is a screenshot of a letter that went to all elders.

i am an elder but i don’t remember this one, perhaps it is only for some areas?.

The letter is bogus, I confirmed and elders have not received any such letter.

While higher education is discouraged, however, if an elder or anyone in his family pursues higher education, this doesn't automatically lead to his deletion. His qualifications are "reviewed", as in, it is seen if he is still fulfilling all his other jobs as an elder and is allowed to stay if his education is not coming in between his responsibilities.

In my congregation, all the elders are raised in the truth, are university graduates, and are well-off financially. Even the smarter ones who did not pursue higher education are doing well in their businesses as making a good income is not completely dependent on being college graduated.

Where is Tony?

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

I knew about one house. Can someone please tell me about the second house.

Two weeks after Morris stopped serving in the GB, the WT bought a house for him in the Lumberton area. On the same day, two or three blocks to the left the WT bought another house.

While the name of the grantee for the first house is Morris and his wife, the grantee for the second house is the WT itself, so its not clear for whom it is bought for.

Rest all what you hear over here are speculations.

the watchtower's many legal problems and the jws' use of carts in their preaching work, reminded me of a scene and dialog from the film patton.. in a scene where patton is viewing a battle site the morning after, he says to an aide about the nazis: “you know how i know that they're finished out there?

in my dreams i saw the carts.

they kept buzzing around in my head and i couldn't figure out why.

Actually, the change in field service requirements doesn't make a massive change in the JW world. Those who were not serious enough in the past will continue to remain so, albeit they don't have to fake a number for their reports again. Die-hard JW's will continue their work as is or join the Aux pioneer or Reg pioneer ranks if they want to report their numbers.

a long, long time ago, when i was young, i became a 'special' pioneer.

it meant that i had to spend 150 hours a month, and i received a small allowance.

i was then assigned to a small country congregation, in western nsw (australia).

How Do Jehovah's Witnesses View Education?

a bible proverb says: "the shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself.

Most of the higher education stuff is just on paper. It depends on how your local elders view you. In my congregation, all 4 elders are young married men, raised in the truth, and university graduates, one of them even a postgraduate with a P.hD. You need to know your way through people to succeed in any organization, even the JW's. If you don't, then you are screwed, whether you pursue a college education or not.

Did Geoffrey Jackson lie under oath at the ARC?

i understand he intimated that the faithful slave was not the only spokesman for jehovah god.

he also intimated that corporal punishment was not advocated by the wts.

we're these lies or deception or did they represent the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?.

The only conclusion that can be made from this is that you admit prior to the 80s the org. taught parents to be abusive when it came to discipline.

Of course I meant that. There is nothing to admit. All JW's in during the 80 and 90's including us knew that the using the rod meant spanking your child. People were not suddenly spanking their kids after becoming JW's and reading the articles about it. It was an accepted form of punishment in many lands.

Now whether spanking your kid constitutes "abuse" is a different spectrum of discussion.

Also, my point was that at the time of the ARC testimony, JW's didn't endorse corporal punishment.

WT's view on corporal punishment has changed since the 1980's and the 90's:

The Bible associates such discipline, or instruction, with love. (Proverbs 13:24) Therefore, “the rod of discipline” should never be abusive—emotionally or physically.a (Proverbs 22:15; 29:15) Discipline that is rigid or harsh with no sense of love is an abuse of parental authority and can crush a child’s spirit. (Colossians 3:21)

In Bible times, the Hebrew word for “rod” meant a stick or a staff, such as the one a shepherd used to guide his sheep. (Psalm 23:4) Similarly, “the rod” of parental authority suggests loving guidance, not harsh or brutal punishment.

“The rod” refers to parental authority that must be applied lovingly to prevent children from going astray. Wielding such authority does not involve abusing the child in any way.

But parental authority—“the rod of discipline”—should never be abusive.b

Some shy away from the word “rod,” thinking that it implies some kind of child abuse. But it does not. The Hebrew word for “rod” referred to a staff, such as the one a shepherd used to guide—not assault—his sheep.a So the rod stands for discipline.

on november 15, 2023, the service committee of the governing body shared highlights of the 2023 worldwide service year report with the bethel family.

the following exciting increases were announced: baptisms: during the 2023 service year, 269,517 persons were baptized.

Local KH accounts tells only monies in, expenditures, and remaining balance, which had not be too large. No breakdown on utilities, required payoffs, etc.Years ago I detailed every expense so the congregation knew where things were spent

According to the direction, the full accounts report, along with the breakup of the expenditures is posted on the congregation notice board till the next accounts report comes in. So anyone in the congregation can go and read it.

Now, it appears this average monthly "donation" per person has been implemented on each Cong.

Actually, this arrangement has been around for a number of years. The amount is 'suggested', which means the local body decides to send more or less than that. For e.g. my congregation which has quite a lot of wealthy families sends four times that number, whereas in the neighboring city, a congregation sends just a quarter of that donation. Many JW's send contributions directly to the branch offices through the website.

One of my friends from Bethel says that there is no shortage of money pouring in as there are more than enough wealthy JW congregations and families to keep the organization floating.

Until the core membership is strong, the GB doesn't care how many PIMO JW's on the fence keep falling off. There's not much money that comes from the PIMOs either ways as most stop contributing and just prod along for their families.
