When Disaster Strikes
by NeverAllowestobeMyself injehovah's witnesses repeatedly report that when disaster strikes they are the quickest to respond, the most organized relief agency and they provide superior support to their members and the affected community.. they make it sound like organizations such as the red cross are completely in disarray every disaster until jehovah's witnesses show up and show everyone how it's done!.
in the wake of recent disasters around the globe i would like to encourage everyone to share experiences of people showing genuine love to their neighbors, communities going the extra mile and organizations doing brilliant work..

Recently I have observed great acts of kindness and love by individuals, remarkable gestures of social responsibility by corporations and the most effective organization and personal care for its citizens by relief organizations and government. This is totally the opposite of what the JW's have been saying would happen in the "time of the end". This is not a isolated event either, whenever there is natural disaster people as a whole pull together. Communities, cities, states and our country pulls together. It is so wonderful to be able to see this for the first time, being "awake" and understanding "TTATT" can make you angry at the WBT$ but it also can fill you with joy as you see reality for the first time in your life. -

Waking People Up With Well Thought Out Comments
by JW_Rogue inis it possible to have an effect from the inside?
with well thought comments that reveal more of the history of the organization?
the next book we study will be "god's kingdom rules!

I think you can. Over the last couple of years I have given well thought out comments that have resulted in people saying to me after the meeting "your comment really made me think."
The trick is to not say anything that can be used as a basis for an "investigation" conducted by two elders during a "shepherding call".

I can't take it anymore!
by BlackWolf inmy dad was recently made an elder about maybe 6 months ago, and now he is never around he's always at work or doing some kind of jw crap.
now he conducts the watchtower study and is even doing the special talk tommorow.
he's become an even more strict controlling jerk than he was before, and i'm never allowed to go out and do anything non jw related because he doesn't have the time.

I served as an elder and it was some of the worst years of my life. Your Dad has to sit in a room every six months and have a CO tell him all the things he is doing wrong, all the things he needs to improve on and in the last 60 seconds of the meeting he will be told "but your doing a great job just do what you can." Problem is in three months at the next assembly there will be several talks that reinforce he isn't doing enough. Add in a Convention in the summer and the Kingdom Ministry School for Elders and the School for Congregation Elders that is 5 days of "do more" followed by 60 seconds of "just do what you can". Add to that the inevitable emotional beating he is getting from the congregation and possibly other elders and well you get my point. The man is under enormous stress. When I was an elder all I ever wanted to do was help out and it was NEVER ENOUGH! I'm not condoning any bad behavior your Dad may be guilty of but take it from me if you knew half of what he goes through on a weekly basis you may appreciate his perspective. The reality is your Dad needs help sadly it sounds like he doesn't know it yet. -

Never Allowed to be Myself
by NeverAllowestobeMyself inso my handle has a typo, it is supposed to be never allowed to be myself but i'm okay with that because it is kind of symbolic of my situation.
as a born-in i have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a jehovah's witness.
my earliest memories involve being upset that i would die at armageddon because i was bad.

So my handle has a typo, it is supposed to be Never Allowed to be Myself but I'm okay with that because it is kind of symbolic of my situation.
As a born-in I have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a Jehovah's Witness. My earliest memories involve being upset that I would die at Armageddon because I was bad. I just never have fit in, even at the tender age of 5.
As a child I learned quickly how to tell my parents, my friends parents, my friends, the elders, other members of the congregation, my teachers and eventually as an adult my co-workers, friends, children and spouse what they want to hear. It has become so ingrained in my personality that I do it subconsciously. So basically no one on this planet really knows who I am, what I think and how I truly feel about things.
In my late teens and early 20's I was disfellowshiped and I used that time to try almost everything. In the end my experimentation led to heavy drug use and I destroyed my life. That forced me into a tough decision. So I went back and got reinstated.
Since that time I have remarried, had children, started three businesses (one failed, two are successful), served as a Pioneer, MS and an Elder. I have also learned TTAT and woke up. So now for the first time in my life I am just going to be Myself.

General health after learning TTATT
by Darkknight757 in4 months ago i was conducting the watchtower study along with a long list of responsibilities that come with being an elder in a very goofy congregation.
during this time my health was going down hill.
i've always had a low blood pressure,(102/65 or abouts) but for the past year it had creeped up to 135/90 range.. so 2 months ago after learning ttatt, i'm still considered an elder because the brothers won't let me step down, but i haven't done anything in that time except comment once at a meeting a few weeks ago.

Former elder, it was literally the worst experience I have ever had and I have been through a lot. Only two things have ever made me sob.The loss of my child and being an elder. My health suffered from all the stress, finally I just quit. They tried to get me to stay on but I just kept saying NO. Stress is way down and therefore health is better.

Why Me?
by Grey Goose init the question that i have found myself constantly asking myself the past few months.
out of all the jws i interact with, why did it have to be me that woke up from this mess?.
i am relieved that i have woken up to the bullshit, but a side of me misses that fuzzy feeling of being a 100% believer.

I totally understand this. The feeling of knowing and yet wishing you didn't comes and goes. I am so tired of playing along and yet the cost of leaving is just to high.
