Even tho I've been expelled about 4 years now, I truly checked out around 2015. Changes in the org I think we're just starting to get going. I remember the kingdom songs suddenly getting the Taylor swift treatment aka pop music treatment. Meetings were getting axed or meshed together or something. The school meeting during the week was already so confusing to me after months of not paying attention to what was being done even tho I would give parts still hehe. What's his name from the governing body hadn't gotten kicked out yet. A friend told me the org not too long ago ordered publishers to go back to their neighborhood kingdom halls instead of wherever they wanted to. So apparently you can't just pick and choose wherever you want to go now. What are the young people especially looking like these days?

Life in a spiritual (UN)-paradise
by Reasonfirst ina long, long time ago, when i was young, i became a 'special' pioneer.
it meant that i had to spend 150 hours a month, and i received a small allowance.
i was then assigned to a small country congregation, in western nsw (australia).

I moved to a different state to "help" a cong "in need"...there were only two elders and no servants but had close to 200 publishers...needless to say I said wtf, why?? Turned out the two elders there didn't consider not one other guy there worthy of being a servant much less an elder. The two elders handled every single part at every single meeting plus me once I got there. The elders' wives were always either pissed or depressed. One elder eventually lost his home because it was far more important to stay holed up in his "office" preparing parts for meetings rather than going to work to pay bills. The turning point for me after three months of this shit was going out in service one evening with another guy in the cong who complained about the elders nonstop til about 10pm. We were sitting in a parking lot of a Red lobster, and while the guy's bitching away nonstop I looked out my car window at the neon lobster and thought to myself wtf am I doing here??? Took my wife and left the next week fuck that.

Encouraging scriptures for the day
by Kosonen inhello my friends,.
here are some encouraging scriptures for the day:.
revelation 21:2 i also saw the holy city, new jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from god and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.. hebrews 11:10 for he (abraham) was awaiting the city having real foundations, whose designer and builder is god.. revelation 21:24 and the nations will walk by means of its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.. revelation 22:1 and he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out from the throne of god and of the lamb 2 down the middle of its main street (of the holy city).

Koson thinks he has a unique commission from God. Some of the scriptures he quotes are pertinent to today. Most of his conclusions, when he cares to make them, are wild speculation. But that's the way with all specially (self)-chosen divine representatives, is it not?
Hehehe...so I'm assuming his interpretation is the "chosen" one too...

If 1914 gets tossed
by Leathercrop init feels like the change in reporting of hours becomes a fundamentally bigger deal every day.
the weight and importance placed on quantity was enormous, and now it's just gone.
even tho most witnesses really didn't keep "accurate" records so to speak hehehe.... this could very well be a precursor to even bigger doctrinal changes, like 1914. damn, would would happen then?.

Leathercrop btw,,, welcome to the forum

It really seems (the idea of the word about) that the 1914 JW doctrine is in the dark about this then. How can it be a foundation belief when it could be 50/50 right or wrong lol. Is this really a the way to say "we really don't know about 1914"?
And if you're an honest and sincere JW believer, you're already not placing much weight on this doctrine based on this "roundabout" interpretation... for the same reason that it may be just as wrong as it may be right...which means the doctrine's demise isn't all that far off after all.

As much as I'd like to disagree with old Friedrich, I can't. Which means it's both lol

JWLITE
by Teddnzo ineven elders can be part of the new jw lite brigade these days.
they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.
i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

so what will you do when your elders find out your on apostate sites--and talk to other congregation members ?
Its obvious Ted doesn't play by the 'rules'. And I agree with him, that you can believe and live your life anyway you see fit. The idea of embracing certain aspects of the JW faith works especially if you've been in it most of your life. Things are always changing and an absolute cutting off of the religion seems less likely, but possible. In fact all of us here are still mentally tied to it in some form or another. We are not completely indifferent.

They have said in recent writings that Micheal who they think is Jesus fought with Satan and the demons and threw them out of heaven about 1914.
Elderberry
This, what does ABOUT even mean? Lol, then it seems they've already tossed the doctrine then. The word about doesn't mean anything.

Thoughts on a WT Reformation
by Fr.RAS ini posted what follows elsewhere but thought it might be of interest here as well.
my forst posting here so i apologize in advance if this is not in the correct place.. a tribute to ray franz (on what would have been his 98th birthday) and to ed dunlap, his collaborator.
last week would have marked the 98th birthday of a man for whom most of us here have high regard.

I knew both men. Ed Dunlap was my primarily school instructor when I was at Bethel from 1970-1974.
So to answer your question after your long talk/walk memory lane and after being a Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years I have your answer to ...
"Imagine what the cult would look like today had the Society worked itself out of its self-insularity by following Ray Franz vs Fred Franz in 1980/81."
It would still look like a CULT! Just a mutated one. With thousands of suicides, pedophiles and wrongful deaths that would still not have been prevented! They would still be blood guilty! Even if they did everything Ray and Ed said.

Lmao, this was funny.
I imagine it must be pretty difficult to get kicked out of a group that exists almost entirely as a "suggestion" of belief/philosophy/theology. What it sounds like is that Ray's opinion of himself and of his interpretations were far higher than anyone else's, and in classic narcissistic behavior he failed to see that it was him versus everyone else in that room. I imagine a watchtower under Ray would probably been even more controlling and dogmatic aka worse.
