Nicoloau, there will always be evidence that thrives on the power of the ruling consensus. There is empirical evidence for micro-evolution, but macro-evolution still depends on a lot of assumptions and connecting-the-dots. I await future research and developments. Not convinced yet.

I am deeply ashamed that I didn't accept evolution until a few years ago...
by ILoveTTATT2 inso... i live in mexico and i am helping with an esl class (english as a second language).
actually, i am helping with two classes.
i get two days a week in which i just stand there and have a debate with the class, encouraging as many as possible to just talk... in english.. anyways, i like talking about subjects that generate debate.

Evolution is a fascinating field of study, but it knows several definitions. I believe universal common descent from one cell to all of life's complexity and diversity is a bridge too far.

What happens to the elders?
by Worldling9 inwith so many khs closing and congos consolidating, what happens to the elders?
clearly there won't be a place for all of them.
would the older ones be the first to go, losing their long held positions of 'power'?.

Tallon is right. Normally, many boe's consist of 5 to 7 persons. With more and more elders getting old and those with fulltime jobs I think there will be no objection against bigger boe's practically and theocratically spoken. Regarding some egomaniacs however, I know some who like to keep power over smaller boe's.

Another "good" elder might be getting the axe....
by humblepotato inso our congregation is full of hardliner elders, 3 of them, who are not gentle, kind or loving.. people have either moved away or quit trying because one elder inparticular was going to drive them crazy with all his rules and nit picking and being righteous over much.
(and he is pissed that he hasn't been accepted to the school.
hmmm, i wonder why!).

Sorry for him, but I guess in the end only the loyalists will remain. More cultish, less human seems to have jah's blessing.

Today I Dropped In To Field Service Meeting
by pale.emperor ini just dropped my daughter off to her mum at her parents house.
it was 12pm and i knew they meet for feild service there but my ex and i assumed they would still be out knocking on doors.
i pull up in the street and there's quite a few cars parked up and the house was backed with jdubs from my old congregation.

Wow, well done pale! It's very telling that acting normal is upsetting them. Children are wise and under your guidance it's to be expected that your daughter won't be fooled.

Welcome to the spiritual paradise... rude indeed! And remember that in paradise, these guys will be ruling as princes for justice itself.

A must read...it saved about 1,000,000 souls and counting. I read it during my fade, 20 years too late. I'm sure you already know how to get it "cheap" by now.

pale.emperor, what an experience for someone who has never been inside a church! Fun it'll be!
I've always been a lame Catholic before my 20 year JW period. During my fade I visited a catholic church twice, mostly because of my mother-in-law who needed a driver. I tell you, it felt refreshing to hear nothing about doom, the last days, the big A etc. All nice, almost entirely elderly people. The benefit for the CC is that they don't do (modern day) prophecies. No prophecy = no false prophecy. Simple as that. There were a few bibleverses from Isaiah and the gospel and some pleasant social reflections. The atmosphere was sincere and humble, no big crosses or excessive luxury and even room for coffee and chats after the mass. It reminded me of some cosy field service meetings in the KH on sundays, but without field service lol.
If it wasn't for the Holy Mary crap, the vatican and the special position of saints and martyrs, I would consider something like a monthly visit, but I must be honest to myself and the reasons why I left JW.
Of course, I still can use my mother-in-law as an excuse now and then.

Indoctrination is such a bitch!
She (Priscilla) looks young... probably full of expectation for the end to come soon (sigh..."soon" since 1879) but maybe she will be the one crying as she grows old, frustrated and probably robbed of her "silver and gold" in this current system of things.

Been witnessing today - first time in over 2 years!!
by The Searcher inand it felt wonderful!!.
i went into the city to where i knew there was a "cosmopolitan witnessing" trolley, because i wanted to ask a simple bible-based question.
the trolley was attended by an elder and a sister who was another elder's wife.

Good job searcher! You should do some more witnessing.
