Before the "truth" I loved it all, the louder/the faster, the better (speed/thrash/black/death metal). Saw metallica and Slayer for the first time on their second tour (Ride the Lightning/hell Awaits). Threw away a lot of rare vinyl after my bible study (Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate, Bathory) Now back on track, planning to see Exodus in March on their European tour!

Heavy metal
by Godsendconspirator ini have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

...and then the studying horses had a few questions regarding Joshua 11:6 and Joshua 11:9
At this Jehovah said to Joshua: “Do not be afraid because of them, for about this time tomorrow, I am giving over all of them slain to Israel. Their horses you must hamstring, and their chariots you must burn in the fire.”
Joshua then did to them just as Jehovah had told him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots in the fire.
...after some time, the horses made little progress, so the study was discontinued. -

1) Will the GB listen to the ARC?
2) Are you sure you are one of the annointed? You were baptized in '75 and the numbers are supposed to drop!
3) Why build new headquarters while the end is so near?
4) How long is a generation according to Matthew 1:17? Do the math!

DA: Today I used my typewriter and fountain pen
by Mandrake inlast week my mother (i live with her) gave me some clues that she finally awoke, and well, that came to be true and we now speak openly against many many things i considered taboo to talk to her.
so with that achieved, it was time for a delayed duty, i took my typewriter one wrote my da letter, and signed it with my favorite fountain pen, with my "trade mark" royal blue ink (everyone in the hall knew me for using that color and type of pen).
i will hand it to the elders tomorrow, in february 14th, the "day of love".

How would you feel if this happened to you?
by Island Man inimagine you're a mentally out, physically in, awake jw who still attend meetings and occasionally do a little door-to-door perfunctory service just to please the still-in spouse and keep the elders off your back while you slowly and subtly try to free your spouse of the cult.
you're also a vociferous online critic of the jw organization and its harmful policies and false teachings.
one day while out doing your occasional perfunctory door-to-door service with a still-in jw, you knock on a door and the householder comes out and says:.

Does anyone think Jehovah is protecting the org. despite all the talk about THE ARC ?
by tor1500 ini've been thinking this for a while.
even before the arc scandal.
it seems no matter what, the org.

There is a passage in the NT (one of the gospels I believe) where Jesus said that his followers would be brought to courts to face charges and that they should not prepare their defense in advance because holy spirit will enable them, in that hour, to speak with irrefutable wisdom that their prosecutors could not counter.
This is it Island Man.
(Luke 12:11, 12) 11 When they bring you in before public assemblies, government officials, and authorities, do not become anxious about how or what you will speak in defense or what you will say, 12 for the holy spirit will teach you in that very hour the things you should say.”
And to the question Do you think Jehovah is protecting the org I'd say, NO! Not according to this verse:(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing Unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.
We know JW.(b)ORG is not his prophet.

Did you get " Counseled " about the Music you Listened to While you were a JW ?
by flipper infrom the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

Love your story, glad you enjoy life and music so much! Music is our god-given right to enjoy/express ourselves. No one should take that away from anyone. I threw away lots of good stuff in the 90's, like Iron Maiden, Nirvana and Metallica. It brought me the approval of the elders and eventually I became one myself, always doing the "right" thing. That is...until my fading! Good they don't know what I'm listening to during these days of anger. But I never got counseled myself nor did I hear of others around me. I did hear of one occasion when they checked the private music collection on bethel. There was quite a revenue of "worldly" music and a "soft" pressure to get rid of it.

Atomant, did you really take the red pill? Or did you spit it out?
