hi i've been reading a web sight called borean pickets.

although the guy writes some real thought provoking stuff, i sort of don't know what to make of it.

Borean Pickets are spiritually inclined folks (out of the reach of elders by using hidden identity) speaking out about the nonsense of JW leadership.

They represent the JW undercurrent that spells doom for WT empire.

i've made some updates to the user section of the site.

besides some cosmetic tweaks the most notable new feature is the ability to see a listing of the topics someone has posted on - this includes topics they started as well as topics they replied to.. it will look like this when you go to a user page or your own profile page:.

Drag 'n drop text is not working in this post.

I'm trying to figure if it's an app running in the background (on my computer) or a glitch in this new post module.

Is this on your "to do" list?

well, the switchover happened - there were a couple of things i had to fix which meant the posting was disabled for longer than i planned but it's now enabled and some people have already posted.. if you have any questions about the new format or suggestions on how to improve it, please post them here.. if you are having trouble signing in or posting then you'll need to email me instead.. many thanks to everyone for their patience during the changeover !.

Negative forum behavior

another good codinghorror blog entry perfectly describes some people's online behaviour and an approach to handling it.

i'll post part of it below but to summarize, these tend to be behaviours that don't violate any specific rules as such as the people doing it try to carefully skate just up to the line but they are nevertheless disruptive and we're not going to tolerate them on this site.

if you are here to do these things then this isn't the site for you - move along, find someplace else on the internet to inhabit.. hate is easy to recognize.

My first exposure to this forum seemed like a halfway house between JWs and getting on with life:

~ 50% theist / 50% atheist

Stimulating conversation common

Now it's 90% very emboldened atheist (depleting oxygen),

And, 5% JWs trolls (on coffee break) / 5% relics (addicted old timers)

Site is kind'a dead.

Flag idea will help infusion of life, aliens are naturally attractive.

Poster country flags and privacy

the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).

before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.

first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

Run mouse over your avatar (or click on it), you'll see ALL posts (latest on top) and topics (latest to oldest).

Navigate as you please.

It's pretty quick.

You can also do a quick search by topic, key word or user (member).
