May I add my 2 cents in here? You have been given some great advice here by oodad, jgnat and dazed. Would your wife consider going to marriage counseling with you? It sounds like you have love and respect for each other, but need some help in figuring out where to go from here. Your whole world view had changed, the structure you were used to your whole lives is no longer there, you have choices you never had before. The honeymoon phase of leaving is over. Perhaps a professional can help you figure out what you both want/need. Just check them out first, cause not every counselor is right for every couple. I hope you will consider this since you have children. All the best to you and your wife, and congratulations on getting out together!

We're both out 2 years now- crossroads
by LittleMac inthis is a personal post, so be warned!
this is what leads me to post today.
during our first year out together, we had so much to share and to have in common, the enemy of the organization now, birthday parties galore, going out and making friends with people.

Talked to Phone Witnessing JWs
by jamiebowers ini usually can't hear someone knocking on the door of our enclosed porch, so i haven't spoken to a jw in person in the ten years that we've been at this house.
and being that the temperatures are currently very cold in northeast ohio, i suppose the jws are doing telephone witnessing.
so, today i had the opportunity to talk to two real live jws.

The "Pop-In"
by Mr. Falcon inso last night the wife is working, the kids are getting ready for bed and i'm watching futurama.
doorbell rings.
now it's dark, snowing and i live on a back road, so it's very odd to have a visitor.

Actually, I do have non-jw friends that occassionally stop in unannounced, esp. in the Summer. I'm fine with it most of the time, glad they feel comfortable enough with me to want to drop in. Jw's are another matter, but they stop by so rarely, and I never let them in. Just politely tell them I'm busy. But there is still a jw couple who will stop by my house to use the bathroom, even tho I DA'd last year. I'm wondering if there was no announcement made, or if they missed it? I kind of wish they would not stop by anymore to use my bathroom.

Are you DF'd? Share the weirdness, I'll start.....
by Pickler inso i started a reply on the topic of "what's your status?
" and it made me think about my df hearing (sorry i can't remember the exact term for what happened).. so i was fading, living in a different country, working & making rare appearances at my kingdom hall.
i was flat sharing with a sister though.

I hate to sound foolish, but may I ask you all a question? If you wanted out, why not simply DA yourself, or refuse to meet with these men you know have no authority over you any longer, and let them df you without meeting with them? I consider myself to be someone who tries to show others respect, but from some of the descriptions I have read of some jc's, I seriously would have told these men to blow it out their butts after a few minutes. I don't mean to sound flip, I am just really curious. Thank you.

Please don't give up yet, ingimar. I think you are probably tired with your health concerns, and don't have the energy you need right now to fight this religion. Take care of your health first, that is most important. You may need to move slower than you want with your husband, but please don't stop trying yet. You have received many good suggestions on here, along with information on resources (websites, books, etc.) that will provide you with the tools/facts you need in your conversations with your husband. He has been brainwashed, and that is a difficult thing to fight. At least his work keeps him away from the hall a bit. I hope you have a full return to good health soon. Take care of yourself first.
