LoisLane, I have the same feelings as you. I am EMBARRASSED that I was ever a jw. But information is so much easier to find now w/o even leaving home.

Over 20 years ago there was a man with MS in the congregation I attended. Several of the men took turns going to his mother's home where he lived and helped care for him after he became bedridden. I believe professional help had to be brought in later as he became unable to do anything for himself at all, but these were some very good men.

Thanks for the run down, punk!
Makes me embarrassed that I ever bought into their nonsense! Grateful for the internet! If only we'd had it 25 years ago as it is now!

He did warn you, but when you are dealing with a small child, things don't always register immediately, even though we respond. Then a couple hours later say "oh, crap!"
Since your immediate family is out and you do not wish to play by jw rules, look at your caller id before answering your phone, and if it's a witness, let it go to voice mail. Then don't return the call. Should they show up unannounced at your home and catch you by surprise, a quick "this is a bad time, please call first" should suffice. Some elders are good about giving people their space, others live for making trouble. Hopefully you are dealing with a good one who will go away & leave you in peace.

You have to have your daughter's back, DD. What happened is messed up, your daughter may wind up with emotional issues if things continue to go this way, and she could place some blame on you later on for not protecting her from her Mom's emotional abuse.
Lovingly exert your headship from now on. There are times you will be able to compromise. Sometimes you may have to gently overrule yor wife. But don't allow her to abuse your child, understanding that she is doing what she has been taught by the wt idiots. Her intent isn't to hurt her child. Hopefully your daughter doesn't have too much time with Mom when you aren't there so Mom can't manipulate.
I'm sure you can find plenty of credible material online regarding guilt trips and manipulation, including ways to curb it.
You have your work cut out for you. Wishing you all the best.

As a parent, did you ever have a swimming pool and invite neighbor kids?
by 4thgen inbeing 4th generation, i realize that am socially stunted, in regard to those that are not jws.
i am forging ahead and endeavoring to build a life outside of jw's.
i am trying as i can to socialize my child to make friends and be a normal kid.

We have almost always had a pool. No more than a couple friends at a time unless another Mom/Dad is there to help watch. If you are diligent and never leave them alone, you should be fine. Eagle eyes at all times! It's a great way to get to know some parents of your child's friends as well. Invite them over with their child to swim, have some lunch or whatever you wish, and get to know them.
Just remember pools can be a lot of work!
Have fun!

Convicted paedophile allowed to grill his victims at Jehovah's Witness meeting
by Sapphy inhttp://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/convicted-paedophile-jonathan-rose-grilled-7151197.
oh my goodness, i'm so angry i can't even speak!
"women who complained that former jehovahs witness elder jonathan rose, 40, had molested them as children relived their nightmares in front of him after he was released from jail".

That is sick & disgusting! I am amazed that these women didn't tell the elders to bleep off and leave this relegion!
