The whole Abel fary-story is ridiculous. They made up an four-side article out of a few paragraphs in Genesis. Its not just going beyond what is written, they take it all for real. Even mentioning (and painting) the "flaming blade of a sword" - which obviously god had invented.

Questions about disfellowshipping and 'non-sanctioned' shunning
by Steve_C inbasically, i have a couple of questions about the current rules regarding disfellowshipping and shunning.
by current i mean since 1999.. sorry, but i have to put a bit of my history to clarify my situation.. i was a born-in who was baptized in 1983. got married to a sister in 1984. then the kids came.
by the mid-1990s my wife and i had become increasingly irregular, so that by 1999 we were both inactive and only went to the memorial and conventions.. in 1999 i committed adultery, confessed to the elders, and had a judicial committee.

I was never disfellowshipped, but my whole family is shunning me.
First I stopped going to the meetings. Then I moved in another city and never contacted any of the witnesses there.
Now I'm living together with my girlfriend. Nobody ever bothered about disfellowshipping me. But from the moment I told my family that I don't believe in the "truth" anymore, they broke up contact immedeately.

The only blessing he's experiencing is to avoid something very harmfull. The demolishing of the house wich culminates in the destroying of his teddy-bear. And to get away from the evil snake that likes to seduce him. Nothing else.
The basis for his obedience is nothing but fear.
Should blessings not be something very positive? In this film being blessed just means that bad things doesn't happen to you.

Even from a jw point of view the video useless. Did Calebs mother ask the young boy who is his friend, his name and if they are good friends? Did she talk with Caleb about what to say, if his friend asks him about the toy? Or if other schoolmates talk with him about the sparlock-movie? No. Just throwing away the toy and go cycling.
I´m not suprised about that a lot of jw's think this movie is a fake.

I don't know if anybody mentioned the beginning of the movie yet. We see young Caleb flying in sky. Then the engine stops and he is falling right to the ground. Maybe it was made just to capture the attention, especially of the young ones. But there is although a message behind it. The killing of fantasy. Caleb is brought to the ground where lessons are to be learned. No highflying anymore because Satan is right behind him. He wants him to disobey and he wants him to play with toys that make his parents sad.
Fantasy is dangerous. Why was Caleb running into the house without cleaning his shoes? Because he was totally captured in his imagination of being a pilot. And when he played with the wizzard toy, his ma had some problems to get his attention.
Someone put it out before. The GB is afraid of imagination, because all they are teaching is allthough imagination - a ferrytale. But they want the young ones to see it as reality.
