Are the Elders harder on Women

i was having a discussion with an old friend last night.

her parents are divorced and his mother never became “one of jehovah witnesses “ .

long story short she claims elders are generally hardier on women than men.

At a meeting one time, an elder came up to me and asked for a favour and it was a doozy. He wanted me to drive an older sister home since her usual driver had to leave the meeting early. I told him I don't drive. I always get a ride to the hall. He mustered under his breath that I am disobedient to the elder. WTF!!!! I don't drive. No car. No licence. Gosh is this guy for real?!?! I'm disobedient!?!?!? HOW?!?!?

After that, he never called on me to answer any questions at the study watchtower. Geez.

I love Wild_Thing's post about us eating the apple. Yes they do say Satan is the father of all lies but Eve gets blamed for the apple. WTF!!! Now we know how women get blamed for all that happens to us and the jdubs elders are there with that same blame. Oh boy!

Hi Inabunker. I too am a recent escapee of the cult. I have my eyes open and my heart belongs to God what ever name he goes by. I am so thankful for this site. We are here to support each other and help break the chains of GB idiots. Hate those assholes.

The kind of defiance of the people at the convention tells me this is what I need to do, not what they want me to do. Good for them! The blind faith is what I went through and my gut feeling was shouting to me all along. I obviously ignored it but now my eyes are open and I can see the "truth" .

I think if we could actually read many people's minds in that cult, we would see a lot of people do have their own mindsets and not all of us are robots. If it can happen to me, to get out of the cult, it can happen to others.

I love this site and appreciate the posts by everyone here. Many thanks for all of it.

Every new court case means cookie cutter response "Jehovah's Witnesses abhor child abuse"

has anyone noticed that with each new child abuse case that involves the watchtower, there is no apology to the victims but only their standard cookie cutter response:.

"jehovah's witnesses abhor child abuse".

they "abhor child abuse", but they do not acknowledge any guilt.. i give them a g for repetition for emphasis.

Abandoned by JW and yet trapped

had an enlightening discussion with my 20 something, baptised, awake son.

he said he feels abandoned by the religion, and yet trapped at the same time.

i had never thought about it that way before, but can totally understand where he is coming from.

I understand that term being abandoned and trapped. That's how I feel these days. I really want to leave and have a strategy in mind or else fade. But one thing for sure, being with the dubs makes one feel like we are being pushed out the door not walking out on our own. Thank God your son has someone who believes in him and is standing by him. Good for you guys.

I will let you know how it all goes in the next week or so.

so i went to the convention this past weekend.

not, because i wanted to....but, because i had no choice.. i took myself and our son's out walking every chance i had, i made it so we missed the bunker video, the drama, the stupid dream squashing video with the violin.. but, while in there sitting.

I felt that way too. When I was told that I would have to give up my friends and family who are not witnesses, regardless how good people they are I said, "WHOA!!!!!!" Not gonna happen. I will not give up good people in my life whom I love to appease the Robots who left their brain at the door. Fuck that!

So I too, walked out of a meeting and I am not going back. It's funny (peculiar) how they make things seems so nice at first and then the veil is lifted. What irony!

I find emotional abuse is what the GB and or congregation does with intent. When I was baptized I was told Satan would find me and try to get me to resign from the organization. Well shortly after my dedication, the congregation wouldn't talk to me for no reason. They would have socials and not invite me and yet talk about them after the fact all in front of me. One woman who was my bible teacher never talks to me now. I asked once if I did anything wrong and the person looked at me and said, "no, not unless you have something to hide". WHAT!?!?!

I thought something was wrong with me. Here it is them who shun me and then say Satan wants me. Well he wasn't in my life till they came along. How does that grab ya?!?!

They LOVE emotional abuse and will do anything to get away with it. I worked in domestic and sexual violence for over 20 years so I know all about abuse tactics. Heard it all, everything.

I am so sorry for those of us who were mistreated and in the guise of working for GOD! The hell.

Are gays really condemned in the Bible?

so i was having this argument with a friend about the westboro baptist idiots.

my point is that while they are horrible people, they are pretty much right in that the bible is against gays because it has verses in both the old and the new testament.

which is one of many reasons to reject the bible as merely man-made rules from ancient middle-easterners.. and she argued that there are problems in translation, etc.

Hi everyone. In my heart of hearts I must say I cannot believe God hates gays. I trust my gut and yet the Bible tells me it is anti-gay. It is a confusion, but why are so many Christians pro active for gays? Is it against God to love gays? In the JW organization the members claim God doesn't hate gays but wants them to change. Is that even possible?! Oh man!
