Since Mark Sanderson was serving at the Philippines branch prior to returning to the USA I would expect that the Society will be very visible with what they will do as regards the Philippines relief work. I expect we should get a letter concerning that within a week or two so I will be wondering what they will do. Their website has no mention of it yet.

Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.
by joe134cd ini was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.
ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.
sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

Christ Jesus vs Jesus Christ in RNWT
by wisdomfrombelow ini noticed in the bible reading in titus this week that that they changed one instance of christ jesus to jesus christ.
it made me wonder why it was done and what benefit it could have in their doctrines..

I believe it was Titus 2:14 which was changed to Jesus Christ which probably was similar in structure to what Blondie mentioned at Titus 1:4 in her quote. It was just something that I noticed and wondered how many other places they changed. It is hard to keep attentive at the meetings so it kept my mind occupied.

January 2014 Awake
by wisdomfrombelow inanyone know why it is taking so long for it to be put on on jw.org?
it supposedly highlights the jw.org website so is there a special campaign or something?
i would have expected it to be there already since both editions of the watchtower have been there for a while..

The magazine is there now. No idea why it took so long to post it after the watchtower.

I don't know the people who are trying to keep in touch with you but perhaps some of them are genuinely concerned about you as a person and not just as a publisher. As a witness they don't have the usually times and methods to keep in touch with old friends -- holidays and birthdays -- so don't assume the worst and if you ignore them they will usually leave you alone.

Has anyone else observed how the elderly JWs are neglected?
by Joepublisher1 ini know there are exceptions to this (by good-hearted jws), but has anyone else noticed how some jws (even those who are pios, elders, etc.
) neglect the needs of their elderly parents?
(what i have seen is some jws hiding behind the fact that they are very busy in spiritual matters, too busy, to help their elderly parents with chores around their house, yet they find plenty of time for their own selfish pursuits.

If the JWs put equal emphasis on looking after the elderly as they do on their construction projects then their would be no elderly neglected. When they offer pioneers "credit" for doing some activity everyone does whatever it is in lieu of field service. I looked at the tract "Youths - What will you do with your life" which will be in the local needs part next week and there is nothing there about helping the elderly or any others in the congregation. It is all about full-time preaching and makes it seem like a negative if "family obligations limit how much one can do." Unless parents teach their own children differently there is little chance of it ever changing because it will never be advocated from the platform or in the literature.

The WTBTS-What A Joke!
by JW GoneBad ini found these questions that were part of a theocratic written review for the week of february 24, 2003 that are in need of updating:.
multiple choice: the faithful and discreet slave mentioned by jesus at matthew 24:45-47 is (a) the governing body of jehovahs witnesses; (b) all anointed christians as a group on earth at any given time; (c) jesus christ himself.
back in 2003 the correct answer would have been (b) all anointed christians as a group on earth at any given time.

I appreciate the experience but I am wish you hadn't put his name there. I just feel it is not necessary to convey the point and could have unforseen consequences. They take a legal vow of poverty and because of that they are usually entitled to keep monetary gifts without paying tax on it. If they choose to save it for later in life that is prudent.
