  Identity Cards ... good or bad idea?

  one of the questions in the uk at the moment is whether we shoudl have identity cards or not.. the government, who wants them, claims they will "help to prevent terrorism".

  spain and the usa both have identity cards and they have had big terrorist attacks.

  it's never been explained exactly how they will stop terrorists.. my personal opinion is that they are just another government play to control people, another form of tax (you can bet it will cost us to get them) and i have my doubts as to whether the government could run a large scale it project of that magnitude (given it's track record) and whether the estimated 3bn won't end up many years late and at least 10bn over-budget.

  Our social security cards/identity cards don't even have our photo on them. Idenity thieft is big business in the US. BIG BUSINESS!

  Kids in the city steal purses and wallets for identity cards more so then money. They can sell the cards for $$$$

  "The Pianist" was on last night. I watched it for the first time. I must say it left me feeling like I should prick my finger with a stick-pin and squeeze out what little German blood I have in me. However my great grandfather was!! a decent man. But knowing how thousands behaved while under Hitler is embarrassing to the human race.

  Thats for sure! Nowhere did I say I was ashamed of who I am or who my ancestors are and I am quite sick of having my words twisted at will and bandied about. My Husband is a German Jew My great grandfather is German and I am very proud of who he was, he was a great man and what I said originally STANDS!!!!!!!!

  Realist, I can say many positive things about Germany however I was speaking in regard to the film and what happened at that time. You didn't have to take it out of context but you did. I prefer to drive German cars because they imo are the best built. But I didn't include that with my comments about "The Pianist" I would hate to go bar hopping with you!

  i was at the jewlry counter staring at gift ideas for my 9th anniversary (nine years today).

  as i was looking at things a woman came up beside me, touched my shoulder, and said "thank you for serving our country!

  Going out with a bang

  after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.

  it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
