i remembers skating parties at least once a month, volleyball at the park, get-togethers where everyone would play bible charades and sing kingdoms songs, going to the river to swim with the whole congregation after the sunday meeting, spending the afternoon at the lake eating watermelon and water skiing.
it was a great upbringing!
also, i dont want to leave out the strong feelings of eliteness that i had even as a child, of having the truth.
I was a teen in the 70's and remember great get-togethers.
Te term "Pot-Luck" was still allowed as well.
It was O K to have fun.
Congregations competing against each other in softball games at the park.
Trips to the mountains when it snowed.
Pizza parties at the local restaurant after the Sunday talk.
Baby showers. Wedding showers. Anniversary parties. Sheesh…is there anything at all left?
It's sad to see not much more then a bunch of Stepford people these days.
according to jw theory all those taking the memorial emblems are part of the body of christ and therefore should participate in the status and functions of the anointed.
if we are to say that some of these "anointed" are just fruitcakes or spiritually immature, what about all the rest?
why are they so invisible, nowhere heard or seen contributing to these anointed functions?
Seems to me that the picking and choosing ishas more to do based on company man or the most qualifications to being a public speaker and running a business

therefore, i think it would only be fair to list their credits and accomplishments and i will now do this.. since july of 1879 when charles ("chuckie") russell produced his first copy of "zion's watchtower and the herald of more nonsense to come", many wonderful things have happened because of all others who are not dubs.

i dare to say science and religion are two different animals.
they may try to explain similar things but in different ways.
i don't believe man will ever live without either religion or science nor would i want us too.

well i have been living alone now for a week for the first time in about 6 years and apart from one or two minor episodes i am really really enjoying the freedom of it.
i feel like a weight has been lifted.
i feel free again - a tiny bit lonely at night - but mostly i think i've recaptured that long lost spring in my step.
I'm not use to it yet. I like my freedom. At times I miss the companionship...when it was good company. I am going through a transition now trying to work as much as possible. I'm going to go back to school soon as well.

as some of you know i am an active jw in search of the truth and i see many good and bad things in the organization i am interested in knowing the following from forum.

my mother in law came over and started telling my husband that the jws are in every land except 3 bla bla bla... we knew it was coming.
it was fun that i had told my husband ahead of time what she was going to say next time and it happened.

Of all the ex-jws I know, I only know of 1 that converted, my ex-boyfriends sisters husband. He converted to Baptist. She was disfellowshipped and has been trying to get reinstated.
My ex-boyfriends mother disassociated herself but told me there is no other religion for her. Go figure. She believes the wt is the truth but doesn’t want to be a jw. Too many rules.
