I read the entire article and found nothing surprising about it. It only shows how ignorant they were.

Demonism and the Watch Tower, by Roy D. Goodrich. Anyone seen this?
by VM44 inin 1969 roy d. goodrich published a book, "demonism and the watch tower" that contains information about strange electronic medical devices used by "doctors" at brooklyn bethel.. it appears that rutherford himself supported and endorsed the use of these quack electronic devices that also had a tie in with occultic practices and beliefs.. roy goodrich complained so much publicly about these occultic devices being used at bethel that he was disfellowshipped!.
this book today is impossible to find.
has anyone here seen a copy of it?.

quack electronic devices
In all fairness indorsing stupid things is something that has been going on throughout history by lots of people. That alone doesn’t amount to demonism but nothing other then stupid stuff that didn’t work. Don’t forget how we got our light bulbs. He was said to be a quack as well. Radiation therapy was killing people in hideous ways when it first came on the scene.
I agree that the wts is probably closer to Satan then his own demons but not through electronic devices.

JWs celebrating their 40th birthday?
by M.J. in.
i heard that its common for jws in a certain congregation to make a big deal when someone turns 40--to the point that they actually throw a party.. is this something that happens out there?.
i just thought it sounded pretty odd.

Seems that "birthday anniversary" was a term used by witnesses in the 40s.
They did lots of things in the 40's they would never do now. Things have changed a lot. When I was little we use to celebrate the 4th of July. I remember when my father said we could no longer buy fireworks because the mark of the beast is on them.
They also celebrated Christmas at Bethel at one time.

JWs and the lack of high emotional states
by Lady Lee injws and the lack of high emotional states
the wts capitalizes on a couple of mood states.
the biggest is fear.

The biggest is FEAR. By demonizing everything non-WTS
I totally agree. I've mentioned that in threads from time to time but it seems to me that a lot of posters still do not recognize it even after being out for a while. It bugs me maybe more then it should.

Where did Rutherford go to school?
by VM44 inthe story is that rutherford was so determined to go off to school that he hired a man to take his place as a worker on his father's farm.. eventually rutherford got a job in a lawyer's office, but i do not recall that the school that rutherfrod attended has ever been mentioned.. shorthand is the only subject by name that it is known that rutherford studied.. what this indicates to me is that rutherford attended some sort of trade school rather than a college.. if he had attended and graduated from a college, rutherford would have certainly listed it as one of his accomplishments.
he was that type of person.. --vm44

I seem to remember, while reading a more detailed bio about him, that he acted as some sort of counsel in the White House in his early years. All of my articles, books etc. are in storage and have been for sometime. I cannot remember where I got that info.

To all the kids who survived the 40's,50's&60's

Ok I think I fixed it.
This reminded me of when I ran away from home when I was a kid and all my mom had to say was she knew I would be back when I got hungry enough .
Now day's NO WAY! If a child gets mad and runs off, or just doesn’t let you know where they are at all times, it is HORRIBLE what parents have to go through until that kid is safe and sound back home. My kids were extremely adventurous and I know they aged me at least 20 years more then I should be.

Sorry about the wacky formatting. I copied this from an email and tried to fix it before posting but...oh well.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE:
1940’S, 50’S AND 60’S
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking .
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat..
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING !
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms...........
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents .
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever !
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
AND
YOU!
ARE ONE OF THEM!
CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government
regulated our lives for our own good.
And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!
