No wonder it's been so quiet around here the past few years. All my mother-in-laws are dead. I thought they would out live me just out of onrynous.

by teenyuck inlast week i spoke to my mother-in-law for the first time since visiting her ugly ass, at christmas, in florida.
i, unfortuantly, picked up the telephone without checking caller id.

Struggling to keep balance
by Lee Elder indont overstate matters.
the situation in oregon is a terrible tragedy.
the watchtowers policy on shunning likely contributed to the tragedy, it may have even been a primary factor but there are any number of other factors that could have contributed as well - too many to even mention!.

Lee
I agree with what you said. There is NO excuse for what he did.
Next thing you know wemon will be able to drive there children into a lake and drown them and use the excuse they were dfp'd and it drove them to it.
Or lets feel sorry for the boston strangler because he must have been raised a jw.
I still haven't killed anyone yet. And unless someone threatens my life I won't. -

Pet Peeves
by patio34 inanyone have any pet peeves they'd like to air?
here's one that just happened at work that is an annoyance for me: when you are speaking and the person interrupts the conversation with a corny play on words or the like.
for example, "i had to sit on the phone on hold for about 5 minutes, waiting .

Booted! On the ship! Kicked off! Df'd!
by teejay inover at kent's cozy discussion forum, at http://kent.steinhaug.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=576c225fa464b8a850eaf84a8f511cad&threadid=62, redhorsewoman started a thread wherein she wanted comments about an old highschool classmate (also a jw) that she recently met again.. responding to her post, i said.
too late for your situation, but i'd treat her as i've come to treat my jw family: leave religion, the truth, jehovah (and the rest of that jw baggage) out of all conversations... unless they bring it up.
and even then, don't expect much.

ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?
by You Know injehovah long ago confidently stated that he was going to rock the very heavens and the earth into oblivion.
although not going into detail exactly how he proposes to shake the nations up, it goes without saying that the world stands posed to experience a catastrophe beyond human comprehension.. it has now been six months since the so-called 9-11 disaster.
and while most people have been quick to get back to business as usual in their little lives, the events of 9-11 have set off a chain reaction of official policy revision that has potentially far-reaching consequences.

Churches...would a JW go
by KistByQpid inunder what (if any) circumstances would a jw go to a church?
is it the building itself or is it church services they have an aversion to?
can they go under circumstances that are not neccessarily considered "worship"?

The only times that I ever went to other churches were for weddings and funerals.
I have to say something about the Catholics though. My "last" husband was catholic but I never went until a friend of mine died. I was caught off gard with the usual stuff.[8>] I never stood up and sat down that much anywhere else except maybe the gym! As soon as a sat down and arranged my purse and what nots, damn everyone was standing up again. I felt really strange. up down up down up. I think I missed the entire service, I didn't hear a word, not that I could have understood it anyway. I spent the entire time anticipateing everyone around me so I wouldn't be either standing or sitting by miself. I was really tired after that.
