The Gentiles Times Reconsidered--Again but this Time By Using the Bible
by thirdwitness inthink about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.
why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?
as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

Earthquakes and rumors of war or whatever ;o)
by Hellrider ini was so inspired by the ridicolousness of thirdwitnoid in that other thread ("the gentile times reconsidered again...but this time i am using the bible"), in which he actually dared bring up the old "increase in earthquakes"-fairytale from the wt and asleep.
it really had nothing to do in that thread, which was about 607 vs 587 (oh no, not that again.... datelocationdeathsmagnitude.

Jesus said there would be great earthquakes in one place after another.
He actually said great earthquakes in one place after another? I thought he said something more like great disturbances. Shaking
Real earthquakes are natural and happen all the time like weather. We see lightening all the time but is that a sign now of the end times? Many people have taken the phrase "the latter days" to refer to the time just before the return of Christ. But if you look at that phrase in other places in Scripture, especially in the book of Hebrews you find that "the latter days" or "the last days" refers to the entire age between the first and the second comings of Jesus. We have been living in "the last days" since our Lord was here on earth. What the Spirit was saying is that, during this whole age, there would come repeated cycles of perilous times when God would shake the earth and the heavens, and things would be upset and confused, times of upheaval. One of the comforting things this passage sets before us is that the One who does the shaking is God himself. God shakes up the earth, shakes up the people.

:Many have been misled by the great signs of Robert King, Carl Jonnson, Alan Fuerbach, Ray Franz, etc etc.
On a biblical scale? When will movies be made of these great signs and wonders performed by these people that are well known worldwide? Lol! You have GOT to be kidding! No offense intended Alan
So far this thread has been viewed Viewed: 20,431 times out of billions of people.
As impressive as that may be, along with the arguments posted in it, it is still a little short of qualifying as a wonder. But at the rate it’s going if it doesn’t stop it might make it into the Guinness book of world records for the longest thread on a discussion forum and someone will come along and make a movie about it. Maybe it will get on CNN. Or we will see it on the History channel 30 years from now.

What about this?
24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead , if possible, even the chosen ones.
I still haven't seen any sign of that nor have I heard news of any wonders or great signs. Lots of false prophets but no Christ yet performing any miracles wonders or great signs . The closest thing to that would be a few groups of people that thought they were getting picked up by spaceships or killing themselves to get to a better place and the leaders they followed didn’t exactly perform anything wondrous. The entire world, with the exception of a few idiots, knew they were crackpots. if possible, even the chosen ones. This indicates to me that LOTS of people from, assuming, around the world would be fooled, intelligent people, not just a few idiots grasping onto anything. The taliban flew into the twin towers for virgins but no one has yet convinced people from all nations and languages to believe they or anybody else is a Christ. So far all the great signs have pissed off lots of people but not fooled most into believing something divine has happened or is happening. will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead This has not happened yet so it should happen any minute now since we are out of time.plm

Were people arguing with Noah about WHEN the flood would come?
Question for thirdwitness
When Jesus disciples ask him how will they know when he returns, why did Jesus answer them “The son of man” rather then you will know when I am here? Or, You won’t know because you’ll be dead by then? Matt 24: 22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' He got here in 1914 invisibly! do not believe it. 26 "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.Question for thirdwitness
Is it Jesus “the son of man” or is it Michael the Arc Angle that returned invisibly? Jesus, the son of man got here invisibly before Michael the Arc Angle visibly gets here and is seen by everyone from the east to the west? No, that can’t be it because he referred to himself as “The son of man”. It seems clear to me that according to Matt 24: 23 & 27 there could be nothing to argue about. What did he mean by this? Matt 24: 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.plm

Why did God allow concubines among the faithful?
by AK - Jeff ini was never able to swallow fully the wts's silly reasons on this one.. how could god require marital fidelity on one hand and allow his 'faithful ones' to engage in polygamy and in some cases in the ot the use of prostitutes to satisfy momentary needs?
and on other the hand to condemn such?
no irreverance intended here - just an honest question.. jeff

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=1&chapter=30&version=31 Genesis 30 niv 1 When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, "Give me children, or I'll die!" 2 Jacob became angry with her and said, "Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?" 3 Then she said, "Here is Bilhah, my maidservant. Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and that through her I too can build a family." 4 So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife. Jacob slept with her, 5 and she became pregnant and bore him a son. 6 Then Rachel said, "God has vindicated me; he has listened to my plea and given me a son." Because of this she named him Dan. [a] 7 Rachel's servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. 8 Then Rachel said, "I have had a great struggle with my sister, and I have won." So she named him Naphtali. [b] 9 When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she took her maidservant Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife. 10 Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11 Then Leah said, "What good fortune!" [c] So she named him Gad. [d] 15 But she said to her, "Wasn't it enough that you took away my husband? Will you take my son's mandrakes too?"
They are competing with each other big time.
"Very well," Rachel said, "he can sleep with you tonight in return for your son's mandrakes." 16 So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. "You must sleep with me," she said. "I have hired you with my son's mandrakes." So he slept with her that night. There is something very fickle about these self centered, jealous, angry people. If God kept her from having children then wanted to bless her because she was so jealous it was painful then why not let HER have children? What, God couldn’t figure that out? It really sounds as though God was used for many excuses.

This thread is too long to read all of it at once.
AnnOMaly/Flash
Many of those criteria are taught by others, and some that are distinctive to JWs are very debatable, biblically-speaking. And yet above you said that God would make allowances for people with a sincere heart, even with their inaccurate knowledge of Him.
This is an interesting point about the JW beliefs and practices. Many jws have been dfpd over the years for nothing more then disagreeing with 1914. It isn’t even a commandment that anyone must believe in a timetable but it is a JW commandment that is taught with salvation depending on it. That is just plain
W R O N G
When the time comes for the governing body to change this doctrine will they dfp themselves for having believed it for so many years and committing wrongs against their brothers that disagreed????
w o wthirdwitness: Up until that time wars were mostly civil wars or little skirmishes between a few countries over borders and colonies

I think that is the numero uno biggest complaint I have with the wts. They leave no room for anyone to exercise our own right to think. They've made thinking a sin!!!!
