i am sitting here, so utterly bored and waiting for this day to be over.
so i'm starting a new topic that probably has been done a thousand times but hey, i'm fairly new here.
humor me :).
This has been the first year I've bought presents for my children (now adult) and new grandson.
Giving to my family truly is a gift in itself and my lovely children are generous enough to not hold any grudges for the normal childhood pleasures they missed out on while growing up in such a restrictive environment.
I am thankful for every day that takes me further away from that religion and brings me closer to my children, as we see the beauty in the real life around us.

hi does anyone know why you're classed as not in good standing if youve separated when you aren't breaking a commandment by being separated.
1 cor 7:11 - but if she does separate, let her remain unmarried or else be reconciled with her husband; and a husband should not leave his wife..
I left my husband for a legitimate scriptural reason and a few months later my application to auxiliary pioneer was turned down by the body of elders because some in the congregation were apparently stumbled that I had previously been 'allowed' to auxiliary pioneer.
Shortly afterwards, two older sisters (in their '60s) in the same congregation left their husbands with no official scriptural basis for the separation. They both auxiliary pioneered, one even having a meeting for field service in her house, and experienced no censure or repercussions because of their personal situation.
I guess it just comes down to the whims of the elders and how loudly the gossips shout

Most JW elders have no humility and no compassion.
When a woman in my congregation dared to question why prohibitions were placed on her (the innocent party) for divorcing her husband (a well known serial adulterer) she was told to be humble and just accept the decision, however unfair it seemed.
Elders do not react well to being shown that they are not always right.

to accept that everything around you is an illusion built up on lies or half truths.
but hey, it might feel good to be aware and break free from this illusion.
For me, I took the red pill and realised how amazing life can be.

did you have a plan to leave the organization?
i did.
it took a couple of years but we did leave and never had a desire to go back!.
My planned exit was similar to OTWO-
Gradually reduced field service to one hour a month for a while , then stopped altogether at the beginning of the new service year. I knew the service overseer was changing to a brother who was new to my congregation and didn't know me. Apart from 6 months of requesting my report, and receiving a polite "no, brother, nothing for you this month" he never asked questions.
Same with meeting attendance. Whittled it down to one or two Sundays a month, then took my opportunity to leave completely when there were some serious issues in the congregation.
Except for one or two attempted visits from elders early on, they have left me alone.

i agree with garfield, but mayo comes in a close second.
slathering my pasta with an inch of best foods real mayonnaise (hellman's, east of the rockies) is close to heaven for me.

a poster on another thread said it's a new rule brought in at this years convention.. last year they were told to shun even non df people and now this?
a religion cant force someone where to plonk their ass surely?.
When my (now) ex husband was df'd he sat with me and the children in our usual spot in the hall. Admittedly, that was about 3 rows from the back, but I chose the place because my mind often wandered during the meetings and I liked to sit near the back to watch other people and relieve the boredom
