Hello everyone, if the elders start hounding someone to attend a judicial committee meeting is there any legal recourse that someone can take to make them back off? I know that sometimes they will just at the threat of it. Thoughts?

I just saw this on Kim Mikey you tube channel.
by joe134cd ini just saw this on the link below.. https://youtu.be/tigp4huuigy.
the question that's raised is.
why would wt want to use a 3rd party in order to recieve donations.
-
Huxley1979
Whether you think the 3rd party was important or not I do not think that charging a fee to pay for administration staff and customer service staff is surprising or inappropriate. These are witnesses but they are not volunteers. They are paid for their time. But either way local donations are no longer being handled that way anymore.

good to see the caring brothers help establish depth of guilt..

It blows my mind how JW’s will spend literally years trying to get someone into the organization and in 45 minutes (a friend’s JC was only thirty minutes) to decide to kick someone out. He wasn’t some imminent threat to the congregation. How many people could they have avoided df’ing if they turned it into a process that might span months of really and truly “helping” the person with the core issues they might have rather than immediately “helping” by giving them the boot. If the person isn’t apparently repentant At first couldn’t they spend time with them trying to bring them to repentance? Nope, they make a snap decision based on a moment in time and totally and cruelly destroy someone’s life. It’s one of the most abusive religious practices in the world up there with genital mutilation.

JW Response to COVID
by optimisticskeptic ini haven't been on here in quite some time so i apologize if i missed a similar thread already (i did look for one :) ) anyways, just to be clear i think the jw response to covid in general has been really positive and proactive and they've done really well trying to educate people on covid, doing zoom meetings, etc to prevent spread within the congregations.
the part that i find interesting is how compliant and non-apocalyptic the branch has been during all of this.
even as someone who's a bit of a skeptic i found myself wondering if this might be the beginning of the end between covid, economic upheaval, and blm.

I agree. Their response has been very atypical. The idea was floated on here that maybe they want to sell all, or most of the KH's so continuing this lockdown indefinitely would suit them fine. Who knows...

Another shocking JW Abuse case, with Legal Commentary
by Phizzy in"16 april 2020 | comment | article by alan collins.
jehovah’s witness elder sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual abuse.
jehovah’s witness elder, clifford whiteley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison at the birmingham crown court for sexual abuse offences he committed against a child member of the congregation over ten years ago.. mr whiteley initially denied the offences to the police, despite the fact that he had admitted his guilt during an internal investigation of the jehovah’s witnesses.. during court proceedings, mr whiteley’s defence counsel, sharon bailey, stated that the jehovah’s witnesses refused to disclose the details of his confession to the police.

I'm trying to remember what scriptural basis do they use to claim that they need to keep these matters confidential from the authorities. Clergy privilege is a concept that the authorities made up. It's not Biblical. If they really cared about these children then why not proactively reach out to the authorities if there's no scriptural reason not to? This shows it is only about the money.

Covid19 "Suggestions" (aka rules)
by Huxley1979 inso a co just said in his talk yesterday that anyone that doesn't follow the branch's covid19 "suggestions" is disobedient and the type of person that won't survive armageddon.
didn't the letter say that each head of household would choose for himself how to apply the "suggestions"?.
the funny thing is there are other countries where none of these "suggestions" have been given..

Hi FedUpJW, interesting email, thanks for sharing. What I find interesting is that I know for a fact that many other countries haven't received these same "guidelines" or if so much less strict. Is the "Ark" only for the US witnesses?

The funny thing is I'd say at least half of the R&F (including elders) aren't following these rules.
