Field Service

for those who are still attending meetings, what is happening at your congregation regarding field service now that reporting of hours is no longer required?.

are the elders pushing for people to go out in service anyway?.

what is the response?.

The entire organisation is not what it used to be. Everything is changing at such a fast pace.

Hailstone message AND everyone will be saved? Questions

i’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.

from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.

there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.

Until we get an official new light making it clear this is an updated understanding then the official doctrine is still what was previously said. Even if it was a long time ago

i’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.

from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.

there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.

It’s all so convoluted and confusing

they don’t even know what the official doctrine is anymore

they will hide behind we can’t be dogmatic and we don’t know

there was a recent video showing an old brother and a young brother getting ready to go on cart witnessing. Two cops walk past and the young brother covers up the JW logo, and the old brother gives him a prep talk about trusting Jehovah and not showing fear

its a bit ambiguous but I think it meant something about the judgment message

Take a sister who has a son brought up in the faith. He leaves and becomes a drug addict living a life of crime and violence to support his habit.

He is now unrighteous. The old light if he died before Armageddon he would survive but if he was alive then he would not survive.

Brother Jackson said “we know some of you were hoping your unrighteous loved ones would die before Armageddon” he said again in whinny voice “we know that’s what some of you were thinking”

but then he said “does that really make sense” as if he is so smart and all of those believing that old light are so stupid.

Does he not realise it was the GB that made millions of people believe something so stupid.

but now he is saying they don’t have to die beforehand. That junky son may survive Armageddon just as if he died beforehand.

they really do not think things through before announcing this new light. They should run it by someone smarter before announcing it to the world

This is what Lloyd still thinks. He still said they teach that “to have a guaranteed hope for salvation, one must still take a stand for Jehovah (i.e. become one of Jehovah's Witnesses”

but that is old light, the new light 2023 AGM is that unrighteous ones may survive

the unrighteous don’t need to die before hand as the old doctrine said

New approach to ministry

there is a new approach to ministry where the direction is to just talk to people and listen to what they want to talk about.

the new school for the midweek meeting is completely different and is all about the new approach .

even before the no reporting changes field service dropped right off.

Where did you hear this? I heard the opposite. He himself came on the covid updates saying “go get vaccinated” and he said one church was so against Jehovah by saying the vaccines are from satans world

Yes you are right AGM and Recent watchtower changed it that maybe we will have a hailstorm message or maybe not.

Its a contradiction if we still believe in the hailstorm message where we go around saying there is no hope for you but this is just to tell you that you are going to die.

Who is next? Well three members of the GB are growing facial hair now. But who would want to give up the lifestyle and the rock God admiration

The GB have changed so much since broadcasting. We used to hardly know what they looked like unless you were in Bethel.

They each have an entourage of personal assistants, drivers, health professionals and even nutritionists that fly around the world with them and stay in the same fancy hotels.

Now they also have brothers assigned as bodyguards as apparently one time Steve Letts wife was knocked over and hurt by the crowd trying to get close to him for a selfie.

Now they have a team of body guards wherever they go. One sister was heard saying “you are getting in my way” and the brother said yes I’m doing it on purpose our job is to keep people back.

It’s just a social thing for most of us now and maybe this is by design. The GB did hire a PR company as they were so desperate to stop the bleeding.

My guess is that the GB paid millions for a PR company to come up with obvious suggestions many of which we have seen implemented already.

Next is slacking off even more on old direction and an easier more pleasant JW lite approach. Where all members don’t feel like they are being pressured to do more all the time as they used to be pressured.

The new way is to just try to participate once a month which means having a chat to someone or sending a welfare message.

You don’t need to to door to door anymore.

You also don’t need to fear like you used to. This is a hard change for long time JWs but the new light is that even unrighteous ones may survive Armageddon.

the new JWs don’t feel guilty like they used to, you can be in the fringes but nobody frowns on you like they used to.

most of the congregation is the same these days on the fringes and nobody frowns on them, except a few die hard pioneers who moan that they don’t have any support on the ministry as nobody does door to door anymore

so, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.

old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.

the “door of the ark” is closed.

I was one of the many who spent much of my life preaching. I actually thought I was helping people to have a better life now by ‘applying Bible principles.’

There is a real problem with ones who have pioneered for years thinking the congregation owes them something.

any tradesmen or tradeswomen or any goods or services should be cheaper for pioneers for some reason.

the Saying is they have pioneered for years so can you do them a favour or even give them for free.

the problem is the person losing money has also pioneered for years
