I think I remember him saying he had addicts in the family history I think alcoholic
yes he has admitted to drug use and he has admitted to being a perverted sex addict
uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.

#1. i have to start off this post by saying i am not intending to insult or offend.
these are just our observations over our entire lives in the org.
Yes we also notice a significant amount of mental issues these days.
many believed it when were told there is not long left now, they pioneered with low incomes and no plans for retirement
many sacrificed buying a house or getting a full time job, having children because it was frowned upon
now they are bitter about those brothers who said those things as they are all proven to be charlatans
the good news is the next generation of JWs are not pioneers and are getting educated and thinking about good jobs.
many young ones are not even getting baptised after the new light
i used to attend the meetings and was baptized about 30 years ago but i haven't gone to the meetings or associated with any one i new from the congregation for around 15 - 20 years.
i want to get back to studying but i am not ready to go to any meetings.
other than the watchtower and awake what book is used these days for people just starting to study with jehovah's witnesses?.
There is no Awake! magazine any more .There are no midweek group book studies any more. There are very few new watchtower magazines printed now. Many kingdom halls have been sold off--the money goes to "the society"
Very little door to door work is done--and the witnesses no longer have to report any hours spent..
In so many ways its easier than ever to be a JW.
One cant help feeling the watchtower as a religion is dying.
Yes it is much easier these days. I don’t think watchtower is dying more like evolving.
They hired a PR company and are implementing their suggestions. One of the largest things used to wake people up was how Jehovah was going to slaughter 8 billion people at Armageddon. The new light now says many unrighteous ones will survive so they can say that anymore.
I can see this morphing even more into more like the Christadelphians who think the judgment will take place during the thousand year reign, not before.
This pretty much everyone survives Armageddon

there truly is a sucker born every minute, and there are those who are able and feel no compunction about making money off the gullible.
Sad but true. It amazes me that anyone is stupid enough to still give Lloyd any money when they know it will be funding illegal sex exploitation of desperate women
i’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.
from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.
there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.
As we have pointed out notsure they seem to be speaking out of two sides of their mouths. Your interpretation is one way of looking at the new light. But it doesn’t fit in with the fact that they say when you die makes no difference.
We have been round and round looking at different interpretations of the new light. They contradict each other the two ways of looking at this new light.
It will probably change again before next AGM anyway
there is a new approach to ministry where the direction is to just talk to people and listen to what they want to talk about.
the new school for the midweek meeting is completely different and is all about the new approach .
even before the no reporting changes field service dropped right off.
If you "go long times having nothing to do with em" you will be considered inactive and will be soft-shunned.
That used to be the case but Not anymore.
There are some brought up in the congregation I think they were unbaptised publishers as youngsters, never got baptised then just carried on JWlite
they come a few times a month or sometimes not for months
we have lots like this, I hear it’s becoming the norm these days in many congregations
hi friends, i have not been on this board in awhile, and i would like to get some thoughts from some of you.
i have noticed a change within my 4 siblings in approximately the last year and a half to 2 years regarding their communication with my mother and i. they have either phoned us, texted, emailed, or written a letter or card to us.
the conversation has been good, and on any topic that comes to mind.
I don’t think there has been any official change on shunning but the general feeling is lightening up on everything. Yes the old way have been cheapened you are correct to put it this way.
maybe this explains it

Yes that’s the impression I got Slimboyfat.
If unbelievers die before or not they have the same chance to get into the 1000yr reign as long as they are not really really bad. And you would have to be extremely bad as even sodomites ect may not be bad enough to get the same chance.
Then the 1000yr reign will be the time when everyone really gets judged to see if they get everlasting life, and they have to pass the final test when the dragon is let out of the abyss for a short time.

We all know good people who just want to live a good life but don’t want anything to do with JWs.
They would be better off dying beforehand? They are so set in their ways they are not going to change or ‘respond favourably’ upto and during Armageddon? Going by this they would be better off dying beforehand.
But the contradiction is they told us we don’t have to wish these ones would die beforehand but the same time they indicated it would be better for them to die before?
Either Jehovah is fair and just or he will slaughter many many good people who for whatever reason did not respond favourably as they put it.

the stuff they have been producing recently, like this change, is just batshit crazy for sure.
I’m so pleased to hear you say this as the reason I was so aggressive is because I thought you were defending the new light.
