  Can you openly express doubts in the congregation these days?

  i know of a lovely old sister who has been a jw for several decades now who openly expresses doubts about jw interpretations.. she does it in such a lovely way and everyone loves her.

  she is such a sweet old soul, makes everyone happy around her.. she has said things like- even if we have got it wrong about this and that i still believe the bible is gods word”.

  she answers up regularly and she goes on ministry groups but like most of us she is definitely jwlite, we don’t really do door to door work anymore.

  The elders try to alleviate responsibility for the aftermath of decisions but still insist on their way without being held responsible.

  the often used traffic light illustration is used. We are not giving you a red light but a yellow light to use caution but in fact they are giving you a red light

  The orders and by extension the GB and their helpers are losing the power they once had.

  So what if you express doubts. What are they going to do? If they try to accuse you of causing division then you can challenge them on it, make it clear you doubt the GB are correct but they openly admitted to not being inspired or infallible.

  You just need to say “I am in no way causing division I’m just agreeing with what the GB said, and yes I think they are correct they are not inspired or infallible, I think they made a mistake with their vaccine mandates and I think they may be wrong about 1914 and other things. But I am not causing division”

  and what would be the consequences if you did stand upto the elders and not let them push you around anymore? They could try to have you disfellowshipped but you just have to say that would make you suicidal.

  why don't you just let the people decide what is best for them. They know far better their local circumstances and they can make a far more informed decision based on them.

  These are such wise words.

  Russian and Ukrainian brothers should have left while they had a chance.

  It will be the same for those of us in other countries that may

  be called upon to do compulsory military service

  The feeling is you should stay and help the congregation

  but the best thing to do is flee early and beat the rush

  Where is Tony?

  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  Never under the umbrella of being a "Congregation Event". Too much liability. Game parties are common here, but they are private events of the hosts who must obviously must assume the liability and who control who is invited and it's never the full congregation nor an open invitation. No booze. No minors without their parents.

  Yes card game parties are very common here. Pretty much every weekend someone has a fire and play cards. Everyone is expected to bring a bottle of booze and maybe some homemade food.

  We have had reminders to try to provide hospitality to everyone in the congregation not just the same ones, but there seems to be a thing going on where if you are invited to someone’s place then you have to invite them to yours in return. It’s even been said who’s turn is it.

  i joined about 5 days ago and have some observations/questions.. does anyone notice the profile update doesn't seem to work?

  i like reading some of the profiles, most accounts don't have them and maybe that's because the tool doesn't function anymore?.

  also i've been noticing a diverse number of subjects which made me think of the categories of people on here.

  Not many mention PIMA or POMA, which is agnostic. It’s interesting Lloyd evans now identifies as agnostic. So he is POMA.

  I don’t think anyone could prove to me that God doesn’t exist so therefore Agnostic. I’m staying physically in but JWlite, so never do door to door or anything else really but stay an inactive publisher from their point of view.

  If I become POMA then there are definitely good friends that I would miss. I only stay physically in for family and friends. The interesting thing is maybe many of them are kind of the same way!
