Great response, Mrs. Jones: I attend any gathering not hosted by JW with my family. However with my Mom being gone now for 11 years and my Father really getting on in age invites are few and far between. Many of the old worldly friends of my childhood are either dead or in very bad health so not so many events. Have not received an invite to any JW events since 2 years ago which is just fine by me.

I'm gonna have to decline your invite
by mrsjones5 inmy mother just told me today that her cousin's wife has extended an invite for me to attend their 35th wedding anniversary.
i find that i'm not in the mood to be surrounding by a group of jws especially since said cousin and his wife are both jws and i did accept the wife as a friend on facebook where i've been none too discreet about my distaste for the society.

AGEING CONGREGTIONS
by sieborg inhi everyone on this forum, this is my first post but i have been lurking around here for about a year.
i was at the hall this morning and as i was looking round i noticed that, if 20 years down the line i was stood a the back looking around, more than half of those at the hall i attend would be dead due to old age.
if anyone still goes to a k/h ,are the ones in your k/h ageing.

It has been right at 10 years since I have been in a KH. Even then the age was much higher than in the 70's and 80's. The other thing I noticed is the economics of attendee. At least where I lived there were a lot of pretty wealth JW's. From what I can see with my limited exposure these day the economic picture is pretty grim. A couple that lives in my neighborhood who are in their early 50's just sold their house at a lose and moved about 300 miles to a small town and will be renting. He was not a born in so had a college education and retired from a good job with a pension. Going to where the need is greater. They are both going to pioneer. When they were packing up I dropped by to say hi and they went on and on about the big A was just around the corner......blablabla. They were selling all they had and focusing on the preaching work. I smiled nicely and said "yea, I did that back in 1973...how'ed that work out???" Deer in the head lights!!!! Subject was quickly changed

Quendi: Great thread. I got your email re: Magic Squared. I agree that the pen and the machine are both great tools. I have gotten so lazy with my laptop because I can't spell worth a crap and the computer lets me be sloppy... . also you have a huge advantage over me in that at least you can read your handwritting where as I can't even read mine after I write something. Could be a doctor with my penmenship.

Email from my grandmother yesterday.
by elder-schmelder inhere is an email that my grandmother sent me yesterday.. .
shawn, it's very difficult & sad to come to this decision, but because of your attitude towards the truth & us personally (thinking that we are stupid) we're going to treat you as a disfellowshipped person from now on.
actually, you're worse than them because usually they know they have not kept their oath to jehovah & don't speak abusively of the organization and don't turn apostate.

Wow you work for her. YIKES I have to agree with a lot of advise you have received. I would consult an attorney and not just any attorney. Get an estate attorney with a proven track record. If you are in anyway bullied or mistreated in the work place you have grounds for a suit. Ask yourself this question however. Is my job/salary and the inheritance worth the brain damage. She is holding her money both now and after she dies as ransom. Although I do not work for my father he is worth a lot and as of now I am in the will. I am not DFed nor have I DAed myself. I fly way under the radar to keep that $ in sight. If he were to decided to cut me off I will tie up things so long that "Armagedon" will be here and gone before any $ is distribued.

How do you work through the Anger
by jworld inhow do you deal with the anger when your parents stop talking to you?
my partner says i should continue to confront them but it builds so much anger in me and i sometimes i think i should just let it go and bring balance back to my own life.
it's sort of sureal to mourn your parents while they are still alive.

OODADD: Boundries is a great book. A must read for anyone even remotely involved in the org. When my Mom was alive she did not shun me but I was then and still am not DFed. My father on the other hand would look for a reason to shun me so I have saved him the time and effort and divorced myself from him over a year ago. anger is an emotion that is wasted on the org. I get piss off more from reflecting on the time I wasted than any lost relationships because of my fadeing.

No surprise here. Now what if 12 people were killed going to a District Convention.......would Jehovah have somehow removed his protection?? Double standards abound!!!!
