  Is it just me, or is Watchtower lowering its standards?

  It’s also getting much easier to qualify to be an MS or elder. And very difficult to be removed.

  so many appointed men never go on ministry and most meeting are on zoom. They also keep cancelling assignments or say they need a break from any assignment. If you say you have stress or anxiety then you can come off any assignments but it’s very hard to be removed from your position.

  there is a real need for speakers. The public talk coordinator keeps asking for brothers to give talks but the pool of speakers is getting smaller.

  sometimes we have the same visiting speakers over and over again.

  the congregation is starting to notice and say why don’t we get any new brothers it’s the same few we get visiting

  march 3-9 theocratic school material is something else.. i fully get that there are 2 major sides of thinking regarding that topic.

  but really from their own lying mouths it was a personal decision that should have been respected.

  this was not reality.

  Interesting they are playing old handpicked Covid GB updates. They are risking JWs thinking for themselves about all the vax pushing and David Splain saying “do you really think Jehovah would let the GB and full time servants take this vaccine if it was harmful “

  It’s amusing if the GB have contrived to bring about the worst of all worlds for themselves where they have failed to convince governments that their policy on shunning has actually changed (because technically it hasn’t) but ordinary JWs have perceived the new wording as permission to end shunning if they wish

  Yes the GB wanted to make it appear to authorities that shunning is no more and have JWs under the impression it’s still there.

  what the GB have ended up with is JWs now think we don’t have to shun anymore and they are reconnecting with previously shunned family and friends.

  And yet the authorities still think they haven’t changed and the policy is to still shun those who leave.

  The GB have ended up with the worst of both worlds to them 🥳

  What would it like to see

  what i would like to see and maybe will get there in about another ten years is being a jw is a rewarding thing that enriches your life.. just like other religions out there you may not know the entire truth and maybe not quite right many of the beliefs but to have to idea of a belief centres and stabilises you.. i would like jws to be able to celebrate birthdays and maybe even other holidays if they choose to and not be judged by those who choose not to.. i would like jws to be allowed to have different interpretations of scripture and everyone is happy to agree to disagree and be able to say to each other yes maybe that interpretation is nearer the truth.

  we just don’t know.. i would like new members of the gb to issue an apology for previous members getting so many things wrong.. they need to come out and say they were wrong about 1914 this date has no scriptural significance and the same is true of 1919. jws were not chosen in 1919 as the one and only true religion.. we just don’t know about so many things and it takes humility to admit we were wrong.. i would like to see even more lightening up on stupid restrictions like young people being allowed to have a varied friends and activities that are not with jws only..

  They have certainly lowered their standards, and particularly on some sexual matters.

  Soft porn (aka non-abhorrent) is OK (wink wink) vs objectionable abhorrent porn (with greed).

  Oral &/or anal sex (within marriage) are a personal matter (don't force her), vs in the past they were brazen perversions and abhorrent for a Christian.

  Masturbation -- do they even address it anymore. How dumb was that policy? Statistics indicate 95% of single men admit to masturbating regularly while 5% of single men are known liars. (IDK, seems more popular with you gals too these days.)

  Their position on gambling has been watered down through the years, too. Now, innocent "penny gambling" like a poker game or an occasional Lotto ticket is OK. I guess even dropping a few bucks playing slots on the Riverboat is "don't ask, don't tell". Just don't get "greedy" about it. That would be objectionable.

  Absolutely right. If a baptised person does anything they consider serious sin, nowadays all they need to do is say they are sorry and nothing will happen. What a change this is compared to before. Nowadays the elders beg the publisher to not leave where in the past publishers had to beg the elders to let them stay.

  I have even noticed a change with entertainment these days. We could not admit to watching or playing an 18 certificate film or game years ago. Nowadays there is no more pushing the idea that we should get up and walk out of the cinema

  definitely relaxing policy on everything

  Half hearted JWs compared to past generations

  is it just me or has there been a massive change in jws of late?.

  when i grew up in the cult they had a real sense of urgency and would do an hour minimum, these days it’s not even ten mins before coffee break.. same goes for everything else, it’s half hearted .

  Yes Covid changed everything. Zoom meetings and ministry are too easy and comfortable.

  All you have to do is go to a couple of in person meetings and ministry groups every now and then if you feel like it. Never do more than tens mins door knocking if any at all
