I remember our kids' first Xmas after we wrapped in going. They were just at the right age and it was a wonderful day.

So Today Was My Wife's First Ever Birthday Party
by dubstepped inshe turned one today, and 36 earlier this week.
we planned a big party, big for two people that have never thrown a party before.
we rented a church fellowship hall because 1. it was nice and big and affordable and 2. it was kind of awesome to throw a party in a place we would have never ventured in our previous life.

I came here three years ago for support and to make friends
by KateWild inthis site is such a great and valuable resource and simon is to be commended for running it for so long.
when i first came i was in such a bad state and really needed support and friendship.
so many posters commented on my threads and showed genuine care some are real life friends, some are facebook friends, some i talk to on the phone and some are forum friends.. i have just realised though that everyone online is not your friend.

You might find me very strange and odd because I have a disability. Yes I am like this in real life and many people discriminate against me due to my disability. I am used to it.
Excellent response - using your disability (?) to point score on the internet. Well done.
Good luck getting the attention you so obviously crave.

Thank you scratchme for your comments. They are very sensible and wise. I truly understand your points you make. You are very right in what you say about me being hurt, I am very hurt. Thank you for acknowledging that. The last thing I want to do is be tribal, or create an atmosphere where nobody gets support. I am glad you have highlighted that my post could do that.
Do you talk like this in real life?

What crime should elders report?
by kramer inso, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.
how about criminal fraud if they come across it.
assault on a congregant?.

With the exception of crimes committed against minors it should be victim who reports the crime to the police.

I conclude evolution is guided
by KateWild inyour qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.

Landy, why is it dishonest to start with a preconceived belief?
Because you will always twist existing facts (and ignore others) to reach your desired conclusion. Which pretty much makes a mockery of your (royal your) whole reasoning process.

Simon and Cofty have made my points, but I'll just add that to start with a preconceived belief and then try (unsuccessfully) to twist existing facts and theories to match that belief is the most dishonest form of thinking and reasoning there is.

SBF - life doesn't necessarily have to have some higher 'purpose'. Maybe it just is. The constant search for a meaning to life can consume you and stop you having a life.
As for life's purpose, I'm on holiday at the moment and planning on having a nice meal out tonight. That's enough purpose for one day. :)
