I have no real interest in making others see the light - when I stopped going it was because I had decided it wasn't right for me.
It's up to each individual to decide whether it's right for them or not.
i am sure this has probably been thought about, and maybe others have mentioned it already.
in fact, i cant even take credit for this brilliant idea.
it is a "tactic" that my father uses, to great effect, and he is a current jw.. as we all know, there is a wealth of info on the internet, and many other sources, that clearly exposes the many lies of the wts.

had an interesting conversation with my wife recently.
she struggles with physical, emotional and psychological problems which have often caused her to miss meetings.
she mentioned how she is equally tortured by guilt if she misses meetings and ministry, and severe stress if she does them.
Wow, I can say no!
The first time is always the most difficult - it gets easier!

Landy is that how you judged my post?
Not really - it was more the first one.
i am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

Don't answer their questions - they're being judgemental tossers.
Good luck with your wife.
my husband and i have been out for a long time, maybe fifteen years, i must say we are in a bit of a nowhere land spiritually, we find it impossible to attend any other church.
we really resent so much of how they messed up our and our children's lives.
we can't get back all those 25 years we were in.
It can mean big changes when you stop going to the meetings and see it for what it is.
Don't feel you have to replace it with another religion, spend the time with your family, your friends, take up new interests. Enjoy life.
perhaps this has been discussed in the past, but i can't help noticing that on many posts creation vs evolution seems to equal theist vs atheist.
granted, a creationist by defination would have to believe in a creator.
on the other hand, believing in evolution doesn't automatically make one an atheist, a small point perhaps, but i think it would be more accurate to say believer vs nonbeliever.. just sayin'..
You learn something new everyday!
You;ll have to forgive my ignorance - I thought all christian belief was founded on the lieral ransom. Seems convenient that they can discard what the find difficult as allegorical though.

I think you could be right ....
i don't know who the idiots are that write, or approve these songs, ( the creative team of lett and tomo??
) but they suck!!
there is a line in the first song ( # 147 ) that blatantly contradicts the wtbts dogma of the heavenly calling being an invitation as opposed to a sure thing.
No sympathy - you're the daft one for going and singing it! ;)

I was born into and grew up in a strict Catholic family, taught by priests and nuns, etc. There was never any objection to the concept of evolution. In fact, we were taught that it was an error to try to read the bible as a book of science, or as a book of history, or that there was an actual garden of Eden. All those stories had messages in them to tease out. Put another way, I was taught that to read Genesis literally, was to miss the point of the message of being a Christian.
So I have to disagree.
So what did they teach you was the reason Jesus came to the earth and had to die then?
Or was Jesus' existance allegorical as well?
