  'Asking Questions' & JC's

  on another forum, a user posted that their partner is being hauled before a jc for asking questions and, that the jc will go ahead regardless if in attendance or not.. the post does not say what questions were being asked.

  another user responded with - possibly viewed as 'brazen conduct'.

  how many muslims are in the streets protesting and condemning this evil?

  how many are marching in all the big cities condemning this in mass protests?.

  The arguments that say Islam is stuck in the past, 500 years behind Christianity, and fundamentally violent and misogynist do have a lot of merit.

  Where I can’t make the jump is to say that the vast majority of muslims who are normal peace loving people are ‘pretend’ muslims or ex-muslims.

  We need the vast majority of musiims to lead the change and marginalise the extremists, which hopefully they will do given time.

  The main problem we have with that is the west’s foreign policy towards the oil rich countries. The more we bomb them the more we will create martyrs and Angry Young Men. Leaders who have political motivations can manipulate the weak minded more easily using the name of religion, even though it’s a lot more about political aims and psychology.

  The day before yesterday, although it didn’t make the news the US bombed a school in Syria. Although it wasn’t being used a school, it was being used as a shelter for families who’d lost their homes through other bombing raids. 33 men, women and children died. Didn’t even make the fucking news.

  What do you think the young men looking at this going on who lose family are going to think? How ripe for the political picking are they going to be? If it was my family killed by a US bombing raid I’d be in the hills with an AK47. Yes, a lot of these terrorists are home grown, but they still see what’s going on. To them it’s going to be a noble cause. They may still have family in a war zone. Or, as in the cases of Wednesday’s attack he may just be a violent nut job. It appears he was a violent Christian nut job before he became a violent muslim nut job.

  AYM aren’t a religious issue, they’re a political consequence of policy. You only have to look at history to see that.

  Should Blood Transfusions be forced?

  1.there are times when a doctor decides that the only life saving medical treatment -short of a miracle- is a blood transfusion.

  in such a case, what should be done when a person refuses treatment on religious grounds and why?.

  2. should a person be allowed to "mutilate" his body and why?.

  On minors, yes. On adults, no.

  I think a court order is now routinely obtained where any JW minor that is likely to need a transfusion is concerned.

  Strangely, the GB seem quite happy with thIs. Wonder why!

  Sadiq Kahn suggesting terrorist attacks are “part and parcel” of living in a big city is normalizing it.

  Well perhaps being bombed to oblivion by the US and the UK is 'part and parcel' of living in several Middle East countries.

  Perhaps this is less about religion and more about the consequence of foreign policy.

  my plan is to use it as a sort of personal reference.

  Astonishingly, not one single, solitary mention in the document of the over-shadowing "two-witness" rule.

  To be fair, it does seem that going by that document that the two witness rule is irrelevant when it comes to reporting it to the authorities.

  It's neither comprehensive, nor perfect but at least it's a start!.

  And if you ever fancy a good book on the English language, Bill Bryson's Mother Tongue is well worth a read.

  One passage from there has always stuck in my mind. He was describing why computers traditionally struggle to translate English and he use two sentences as an example;

  Time flies like an arrow.

  Fruit flies like a banana.

  The word Scan has always slightly confused me.

  it can mean to examine closely, i.e., an MRI scan was done, or it can mean to quickly and superficially look at something, i.e., to scan the paper. Both meanings seemingly the opposite of each other.

  Also, elicit; as in to elicit a reaction, and illicit as in illegal.
