Here is the short version.
It's a cult.
theocracy hypocrisy weekly # 2 -- buying and selling with babylon
merriam-webster dictionary's definition of "theocracy": government of a state by immediate divine guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided .
why does the watchtower society even need to buy buildings from babylon?
Here is the short version.
It's a cult.
i had an encounter with a jehova's witness at my doorstep.
i challenged them on blood transfusions.
later i looked at jw website too.
So Fractions? They are ok?
Really?
The only way to use blood that has been outside the body is to pour it on the ground.
So where did those blood fractions come from WT?
Didn't they all come from MISUSED blood!
HYPOCRITES!
WOW so hard to figure that out JW land.
Obedience Tested Over Blood
11. What is the basis for the Christian position on use of blood?
11 God’s law on blood certainly is not new or unclear. Through our common forefather Noah, Jehovah commanded all mankind: “Flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.” (Genesis 9:4) The sacredness of blood, representing life from God, was stressed in the Mosaic Law. Blood could be used on the altar, but otherwise it was to be ‘poured out on the ground as water.’ (Leviticus 17:11-14; Deuteronomy 12:23-25)
recently a friend and i were having a conversation about the news media.
he is a democrat but he’s also a very reasonable person.
i’ve known him for many years.

the following is not a criticism of the wts.
i am providing this for technical clarification and my expectation for accuracy.. endnotes 43 and 45 on page 27 of the wts’s brochure, “the origin of life” refer to the new scientist periodical of 30 may 2009.. the text in the wts’s brochure does not match the text of the new scientist’s online article.
further investigation shows that the online text does not accurately replicate the text that appeared in print in the physical magazine.
2 things!
1. Out of all science based magazines, the New Scientist is the least reliable and has a pretty bad reputation in the science community.
2. I my years of giving talks at District Assemblies where the WT OFTEN used quotes outside sources to prove ITS points, I found discrepancies and TOTAL misrepresentations almost on every occasion. It was one of the things that helped me see the WT is a cult.
so.. you are a jw or studying, living your life and doing your bit, feverish of spreading the good news to everyone that will listen!.
you prep yourself for meetings, doing your ministry and applying all that there is into your daily life.. so....i have a question... you know... my clogs.
when you where completely in the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?
Yes I thought that.
I suppressed the obvious double standard, like "no its ok to question your religion dear bible student, even though your minister says not to".
I suppressed the feelings I had that somehow I should be active in supporting a charity I thought was doing good.
There were many things like this in my 40+ years as a JW, but I would suppress it because of...
1. I want to live forever and the WT says what to do and I have to trust them because the love me, and its what Jah wants.
2. Fear of stepping out a little and facing backlash from friends and elders.
what would it be?.
mine would be "rocket man" by elton john.

over at reddit a post has appeared stating that a letter was read at this week's clam meeting announcing renovation work at the patterson compound, er, site:.

does it strike anyone as odd that at a time of pretty extreme belt-tightening the gb is undertaking another costly building project?
Soooo what about all the money that EVERY Congregation is donating every month for building (not building) Kingdom Halls?
Since no halls are being built, cant they use that money?
(so as not to hijack the tariff thread, i thought this would be better to keep separate.).
i guess my economics and finance classes in college have not prepared me to understand the latest round of tariffs/taxes that trump is instituting.. i really don't understand who is "paying" these fees and where they are going.
first of all a tariff is a tax and anyone who doesn't believe that needs to invest in a bridge in new york city.. to keep this as simple as i can, i'm thinking of a $1,000 refrigerator that i am buying.
Ruba - DUDE you believe what Trump says?
Thats as bad as believing the WT:)
'the watchtower november 2019 study articles quoted below can be summed up as follows:.
the great tribulation is near, so become more entrenched in the cult by strengthening friendships with other jw's, by revealing your thoughts to them, by doing more for the org, and by refusing to listen to any upsetting reports about the org in the media or on the internet.. par.
19, page 7 - we must be determined to build and maintain strong relationships with our brothers and sisters now.
Hu, I thought Truth could stand up to anything?
I don't remember my math teacher reminding me that 2x2=4, and not to listen to anyone who says different because they could convince you different?
Amazing the power Jehober can give his people, but he can't give them the power to stand up and talk to someone who has issues with the WT?
2 realizations I had that helped me out of the cult were:
1. Truth should welcome scrutiny.
2. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
