reason being is because i could argue that being all knowing and all powerful is not a prerequisite of being "good".

yet i'm a firm believer that "something didn't come from nothing".

Turning the question in its head a bit, I could get behind the idea of a benevolent deity that is NOT omniscient / omnipotent.

I don't think I've ever heard it turned that way. But it makes for a possibility!

Imagine a loving Father who witnesses his children burning to death in a house explosion. But because the Father is not omnipotent, he cannot just run into the house to try to save his children because he knows he will die. And because he is not omniscient, he cannot figure out how to save his children in time.

Yes he is a benevolent Creator in that he created his children, but he is limited in what he can do for his children because he is neither All Powerful or All Knowing.

Either way we're still Fuc*ed!

I believe there IS or WAS, a first cause.

Not sure if "IT" lives forever or if "IT" lived only long enough to get the ball rolling.

If he or it is still around, then creation paints this Being as lacking compassion for human and animal life.

If he is not around anymore, that would explain a lot of things that seem to make no sense.

Kingdom Hall in Barrington, Illinois

i often drive past a kingdom hall in barrington, illinois, where, when i was still a witness, i had visited a few times.

it wasn't too far from the hall i attended and we got to know people from this congregation.. i recently passed it by and it appeared there was a new sign in place.

yesterday i decided to pull into the parking lot on my way home, and it appears that the hall has been sold and is now occupied by seventh day adventists (i did a check online when i got home).

We cannot take a swim in a YMCA pool. Nor buy a school raffle ticket to help fund PE equipment for our kids school. Nor offer to help run the soup kitchen for the homeless in the basement of a disused church (or go to a gig in the church basement!)

But we can sell dedicated Kingdom Halls, built to Jehovah's glory, to one of Satan's churches.

This is what many don't understand. There is a difference between buying a 25 cents political card and JOINING THE UNITED NATIONS.

You can join the United Nations if you need a "Library Card"

But a 25 cents political cards is joining Satan's organization.

as far as JW indoctrination goes, they had a good point of not getting involved in the politics of the world. I had never had anxiety or issues of any kind when I could care less about who was in office. Now, I sometimes worry about what idiots in power will do next to hurt the population.

You know, that's one thing the Jehovah's Witnesses have over the exjws. True, they are enslaved to 8 old idiots who have no idea what is going on in real life, BUT, the indoctrination that the members who are true believers have - allow them not to have the anxiety that the rest of the people do. Only because they TRULY BELIEVE that God's Kingdom is very close and it will solve all of the problems - political, environmental, social justice, and so on.

So why get involved in anything besides preaching.

When they die, they have this calm in themselves because they believe that in a matter of a few moments they will be resurrected into a better world.

For Catholics and other sects of Christianity, they believe HEAVEN is the answer.

That's the POWER OF RELIGION

Even though we know they will all go back to the dust like the BILLIONS of humans that have lived on earth before us.

And you can add the dinosaurs to that.

Anything is possible these days. But I rather have someone who is STRONGER than Trump. Trump called out the news media and the High Tech companies. But that was it. He went no farther.

We need a President that GOES AFTER THE High Tech Companies and takes away their power. We need a President that goes after the Professors and teachers that teach their Marxist and Woke crap and fires them from State and Federal funded Schools and Universities. We need a President that puts a stop to transgender men competing in girl's sports.

We need a President that sees the importance of having a Border under Control

yesterday or a few days ago a site started specifically for gen x -exjws.

it caters to those born in the 60s to around 70s and some 80s yesterday it had 2 members, today it has 102 members.

keep in mind that for most of these gen x, there was no internet, no mobile phone, heck, i don't think there was even cable tv.

Strong female characters in film before the 'Woke Era'

since about 2015, hollywood has congratulated itself and circle-jerked over the 'strong women' characters they've written.

i'd say this roughly began with rey in the force awakens (2015).

what hollywood forgets is that strong characters have to have a personality, otherwise audiences don't really relate to them.. well, hollywood should really stop patting themselves on the back as if they've done something special.. strong female characters have been a staple for decades.. here's one: private vasquez, from aliens (1986).
