  when one is a member of a group such as jehovahs witnesses, it is not possible to be aware of the degree to which personal freedoms that are normally taken for granted are lost.

  the mind-control techniques used by the watchtower society are by no means unique.

  this is nuts.

  the feb 15 -08 wt threw out that doctrine!!.

  those whose make it into the paradice are not the "generation" as spoken of at matthew 24:34. .

  WT forbids Higher Education but permits Employment

  the wt leaders forbids or at least strongly discourages higher education, main reason being the risk of getting influenced by worldly thought and associations.

  then how come the wt leaders permit jw's to have fulltime employment with worldly companies??

  Then how come the WT leaders permit JW's to have fulltime employment with worldly companies?? In such environment also the JW is associating with worldly people, same as going to college.

  Isn't it the same thing???

  Of course the *real* reason the WT leaders are afraid of higher education is that it teaches people how to think. And we all know how Jehovah HATES people who can think.

  Makes you wonder why He invented brains in the first place!!

  WT Conventions in Honolulu

  i google'd the above and was interested to read that the local businessmen in hawaii estimate the conventions there this week and the next should inject "$100 million dollars" into the local economy.. that's a lot!!.

  i can't believe the wt society is letting that much money slip through their greedy hands.. does anyone know if the society gets kickbacks or some other sort of "bonus" paid to them by the local businesses, e.g.

  hotels, for the conventions?.

  i noticed the thread on win 7, and thought with all the techs who hang around here, perhaps i could throw this one out.. i run win xp.

  i just want a simple software that will let me create picture slideshows that will play on my dvd player for my tv.

  i have nero - it has a vcd option, but no dvd option.

  i know that there are enough of you out there who can add good points to this discussion, and i await your opinions.

  however, please be aware that i wish for you to take great care in your posts.

  i am not interested in haphazard responses.. so as to not give away too many details, i'll simply say that recent events have caused my in-laws to strongly desire my wife to fake a reinstatement.

  To me this just highlights the basis of the whole JW lifestyle - carefully hide what you really are as a person, and pretend to be something different to please others.

  Of course the parents can promote it as a solution because as JW's this is the way they have lived their own lives. It's a life of deception.

  But it's a tough call.

  Personally I would never give back my new found freedom, I would just take the risk that the JW relative softens in time and the relationship survives somehow.

  dale irwin, former city overseer of brisbane (australia) passed away yesterday morning.. a memorial service is being held this coming friday at the brisbane assembly hall.. dale was a much-loved witness here in brisbane and a wonderful public speaker.

  he was briefly famous in the early 80's when he and his wife became parents of quadruplets.. sincere condolences to the irwin family...... .

  And I know it's sometimes hard FOR US to admit it, but it is possible for some to be a good person and a JW. As you say most just "talk the talk" and very few "walk the walk".
