Unfortunately for some they face their JW past at every turn. Being shunned and stared at at the mall, shunned/treated badly at work, having JWs knocking at the door, being reminded of family theyve lost. Even just the PTSD all those years in a cult have caused. Its not a matter of just 'getting over it' for most of us. This is a much needed forum for everyone to vent and seek support not just those whove just left. No one can judge anothers motives or need for being here.

life after the wtbts
by Hortensia inyou can't move forward to a new, more interesting, possibly much happier life, if you're still looking behind at the former life.. there is so much obsession on here about what the wtbts is doing, and discussing all the forms of injustice and bullshit in the wtbts, or how to bring down the wtbts.
yes, their doctrines are crazy and they are a cult and cruel to boot.
move on.

One day theyll thank their Father for getting the courts involved. Ive noticed its so much easier for kids with one parent out of the faith to leave at an earlier age as they have support in leaving JWs. Wish at least one of my parents had the sense to not join the cult.

Her mother confirmed to the judge she would not be attending her daughter's concert, relating "at some length the bible story of Jesus evicting the money lenders and dove sellers from the temple".
OMG what a wacko!! No wonder the ex husband took her to court. New JWs are the worst and its just embarrasing and makes you cringe when they open their mouths.
She hadnt even gone to the kids prize presentations for 2 years, good on the baptist church for actually doing things that interest children instead of making them sit through mind numbing BS.

Isnt the media attention especially TV way over the top ? in covering the seige in sydney or is it all about ratings .Entertainment ?
by smiddy indont get me wrong , what took place was appalling and certainly needed to be covered by the media , whether by radio tv or newspaper articles by journalists.
this was one lone man holding seventeen hostages for about 17 hours , traumatic ,frightening to say the least for the victims who were put through this ordeal , and sadly their were fatalities of hostages .
my heart goes out to those who suffered and endured this seige and especially those who lost loved ones .. my concern is mainly with the tv coverage , newspapers you get usually only once a day , and in a case like this maybe twice.. here in victoria , we have 4 ?

I agree Smiddy, all you could see on TV was coverage of the siege.
While we all feel deeply for all involved it was great coverage for this terrorist idiot and his cronies. I just hope that they were able to somehow stop internet and TV getting into the building for him to see himself becoming infamous for striking fear into the hearts of Australians.
So glad the man is dead. I hope his 40 virgins turn out to be big, horny, ugly men with giant penises!! (assuming he is straight, if gay hoping its big hairy women with sharp teeth for vaginas)

Such a sadly common story. Its so hurtful when our family shun us and treat us with hate. i believe your sons and their families may also be acting out of pride as they are probably embarrased in front of their peers in the cong. Remember what JWs are like - its all about what others see and what others think of you, making sure things always look perfect, its a big show for JWs.

This religion is about to be toast.

Whoops, just saw some much better responses for the middle bridesmaid. JDubbed - I slept with the groom ha ha.
There was a serious lack of available men in my circuit. Lucky I had my cutie right under my nose the whole time, unbaptised guy sometimes affiliated with the cult through his parents. Actually got me disfellowshipped when I insisted I was marrying him after getting caught screwing him. We are quite happily married 20 years now without our families or the cult.
Elders are power and control freaks!

Just quit quietly - the law is on your side!
by Ajax infreedon of religion guarantees any individual the legal right to abandon any religion at any time for any reason.. if you are a citizen of a country which champions human rights, then your government doesn t care what religion you join, but they will uphold your freedom to join it, without interference, coercion or persecution.
your countries human rights legislation will conversely uphold your rights when it comes time to abandon any religion you so choose.
those (elders) who incite others interfere, coerce or persecute those who have left will be in transgression of the human rights statutes.. a person is only obligated to ecclesiastic law if he exposes himself to it or transgressed it while still a member of a religious community.. when your time comes to abandon the jw-wt cult, do it while still in good standing, be proactive - be decisive -put it in writing!..and do it before the hounders set sights on you.. write a card or letter with as much or as little explanation as you one day might wish to share with pharisees and lawyers.. take this card to a notary public to have your signature witnessed and have the writing overstamped in several places with the date.

Azor Im sorry to hear about your Son and also about all your family being in. Our families are also in but we were lucky enough to walk away with our 2 kids in tow not needing their 'conditional' support. Life can be sad sometimes as they dont talk to us but so so much more fulfilling and happy. Best wishes for your cult free future. Welcome to JWN, look forward to your future posts.

Doing the same myself at 41. So exciting, it will take you anywhere in the world and in so many fields! Congratulations! So glad we ditched the cult, we never would have done it otherwise.
