I agree with InterestedOne.

If us kids (born-in) ever complained about anything theocratic my parents would say 'well you have much better parents thanks to Jehovah, if we werent in the truth we would still smoke, swear and drink heavily and Dad would still be in the Navy away most of the year.'

My parents highlighted the 'safe, moral' side of the org. Boy if only that were true.

They forgot the part about the guilt, fear and self esteem problems arising from never being good enough for the org and always coming second to everyone and everything else in the org.

Oh and my non JW parents would never have shunned me because I would have a proper place in their lives as their daughter not as someone they begrudgingly had to raise in a stupid cult.

My young Sister and her Husband (20 and 23yrs old) are fake/very moderate witlesses, they celebrate birthdays and xmas with my other sister who is no longer active. They regularly drink to excess, have only worldly friends and swear like troopers.

They disagree with a number of doctrines yet still they stay in, getting to most meetings, minimum preaching effort and also giving talks.

My Sis is trying to make Mum and Dad happy and is still afraid of armaggedon. My Bro in law has no family 'in' anymore and doesnt believe that only JWs will get through armageddon.

They are still stuck in the stupid cult but at least they have started to move away from it by their actions.

Lets hope they start to research the net and see TTATT.

Man I really feel for you mate.

I was DF for a few yrs and my parents and siblings shunned me. I had no one.

Now Im faded they dont have a lot to do with me but we can still talk. If it was my kids I would be absolutely shattered.

I love Quandrys advice, I too would go with that, sending small notes and photos, quick and to the point. Let him know you will NEVER stop loving him even if he has to shun you.

I expect in the future that my folks will shun me for apostacy or some judicial action and I will always send them notes and photos and let them know I still love them.

Watchtower's Billion Dollars of Property Cannot Be Sold until Outcome of Conti Appeal

30 minutes ago i just got off the phone with some important players in this case, and some things were relayed to me concerning a lot of details of the outcome of the last two days of court.

i am passing this on.

cynthia hampton, one of the main players in the candace conti case (and a close friend of 28 years), just informed me of a further, far more powerful move by the state of california against the watch tower bible and tract society of new york, inc.. by order of the superior court of the state of california - county of alameda (see documents below), until the watch tower's appeal, which won't begin until august 13th and will take up to two years to settle due to due process of law, has forbidden the watch tower to sell any more of its $1 billion in assets in the borough of brooklyn until the appeals case is finished, to assure they won't shelter their monies in the light of this most huge and devastating sexual abuse scandal ever to hit the watch tower society, and perhaps any other single-victim lawsuit.

Is it okay for a JW to handle blood in a medical place of work?

hi everyone, i am curious to the stance and opinions of those who are in the know.

my jw partner (we are seperated) applied for and got a job in a hospital working as a phlebotomist,.. odd i thought at first.

as i am aware they collect blood samples and deliver blood to wards for a sister (uk senior nurse term) for administration to patients.

In the meantime my Sister isnt allowed to sell cigarettes at the supermarket where she works, which means when she is asked to work on the cigarette counter she has to say no.... WTF??

My PO father Elder for 30+ years has too much iron in his blood- haemachromatosis.

The only place available to him to have blood drained (which is what the treatment for iron overload is) is the red cross blood collection centre.

He goes there every month to have the blood taken. He says it doesnt matter what they do with the blood after hes left because its not his problem.

Isnt this hypocritical? Shouldnt this blood either be poured on the ground or only used to make blood fractions?

When I was a dub this stumbled me, even though I never brought it up with him.

Now I just think hes a stupid hypocrite.

a lawyer who advised doctors that they must let a 22-year-old jehovah's witness die even though he wanted to live has spoken of the agonising scenes before the young man's death.. robert tobin, a partner in the london law firm kennedys, was called in by an unnamed nhs trust when the man, a jehovahs witness who was critically ill with sickle cell anaemia, refused a blood transfusion which could have saved his life.. over three weeks the man gradually deteriorated as the crisis progressed, before eventually dying.

medical staff were understandably upset at seeing a patient deteriorate before their eyes knowing a simple procedure could have been provided that would have saved his life, mr tobin said.. the mans mother, also a jehovahs witness, was at her sons bedside, and an elder from the mans church also attended.

No matter how 'in' I was I would never have let my kids go without a blood transfusion if it meant death.

This Mum has to live with and question her religions doctrine and her own beliefs for the rest of her life.

JWs are crazy and sick.
