  Where have the NWT Bible changed verses to fit their theology ?

  Christianity should not be a book religion, especially to the point where it becomes important to whether this or that book is a part or not. Cant say I ever came across a book that I felt I missed out on, already so many. They are all avaible in case you miss them; the Maccabeans, Enoch or Esdras books etc

  I dont know if jw has ever discussed this, probably not.

  But basically you have the upholding hidden God on one side and the revealed God Jesus on the other side. It becomes a bit too reality oriented for the liberal critical mind, but reason would have that the Creator is not merely telling us how we should be but is also pulling the strings behind the curtain, ultimatively "for good" (Genesis 50:20)

  Phizzy,

  Who believes God created anyone with original sin? Generally man gets all the blame 😁😁. Paul seems to be contend with blaming Adam for the introduction of sin into the world

  I think from a Bible fundamentalist perspective, we often fail to realize that the biblical revelation is progressive. Only a few lesser known belief systems take that into account (Bullingerism is one) while the Bible critic says well of course it is "progressive" 😁😁😁

  Waton,

  As Paul says, it is better to marry than burn with lust. I think many humans have experienced this. It can easily lead to more than acting against the obnoxious preaching of the preacher against fooling around with the cute girls; it can lead to broken relations, hurt people and sexually transmitted diseases. Most of us like Adam learn through errors. Of course the rulers want to motivate against certain behaviour like that of Paris and Prometheus, but in real life we sometines need to fall in order to know when we stand

  waton, there is a reason some Bible translations add "with passion". it is a Jewish idiom for lusting and all the classic hell fire believing commentaries interprets it thus, knowing the expression from Talmud and other jewish sources. They would have been more than happy to see a reference to the eternal fires in hell.

  Christianity has generally gone too far in its condemnation of sex. It goes back to Augustine. But Paul rightly says "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion" (1 Cor. 7:8-9)
