  Sparlock Toy

  i wasn't around when the sparlock thing hit about 11 years ago, but it became such a meme that that debacle still gets mentioned from time to time.

  one thing that came up in conversations of the time was about how dumb the name was; that someone in bethel could have come up with a less lame name.

  i think that that bethelite was trying to be clever by using "warlock" as the stem and dropping the "w".

  Spock is a good thought 🤔 As I said above, I saw "warlock", but perhaps we had a very nerdy Bethelite given free rein and revelling in a short moment of creative freedom 🙄

  Can the Watchtower Society survive without time reports?

  there has already been much discussion about how the watchtower society has declared in australia that going door to door is part of a personal ministry.

  this seems to be a lame attempt to avoid liability considering that they require time reports and have formal meetings for field service at the kingdom hall.. this is a bit of a dilemma.

  reporting time and formal meetings for field service are important methods of control, however it's not clear if the organization is willing or able to handle the potential liability that may come from this.. imagine what would happen if they lost these methods of control.

  This was a prescient post. I didn't realise that the pressure to not report hours and thus reduce the WT's culpability in certain cases was already on 11 years ago! That it took them this long to follow through is annoying, if not seemingly typical. Will it take another 11 years before they do something about the shunning of children? 🙄

One thing that came up in conversations of the time was about how dumb the name was; that someone in Bethel could have come up with a less lame name. I think that that Bethelite was trying to be clever by using "warlock" as the stem and dropping the "w". I just haven't figured out why he might have used "sp" instead of some other consonant/combination of consonants to replace the "W". 🤔

  i am really,really curious as to how other people back while in the org viewed the gb.

  because my oldest brother (older than me by 14 years!

  ) was first at the watchtower farms and then brooklyn bethel and my uncle is a member of the gb, my mother tended to flaunt these facts and look for every opportunity to go to either place with her bible studies (these terms are so weird to use after all these years lol).

  And if the GB member, "The Voice of Jehovah" is still alive. Everyone seemed to know who it was, but no-one spilled the beans.

  yes, i was a jehovah’s witness when i was a teenager and into my 20s, but returned to my roots and now celebrate chanukah when the holiday season comes around each year.. so why am i writing about christmas?

  as soon as you see steve letts talk at the agm you think to yourself “oh my, what’s happened to him?.

  his hand has plasters and his skin doesn’t look healthy, like he has inflammation or something serious going on.. he had put on weight and is all bloated and puffy .

  his skin really doesn’t look good, the kind of inflammation many people notice after the experimental covid vaccines.. there have been very high numbers of people reported inflammation after the experimental covid vaccines.

  Journeyman, do you think that this Sanderson fellow (never heard of him when I used to be interested in all things Dub, two decades ago) is the main mover and shaker behind the changes in direction that seem to be making a "kinder/gentler" WT?

  (I'll never personally call the WT "kinder" or "gentler" until they address some of the issues of basic human decency, like the shunning of children).

  Yet they've cut out the reporting of hours spent in field service. How do they measure zeal now?
