"Who are you voting for?"
"Of course I know my blood type!" (suggested by BethSarim's post π)
"Dyb, dyb, dyb!"
a slightly tongue in cheek, but also serious roundup of jw speak and why trying to reason with them is like trying to chip through concrete with a plastic spoon.. how many can you think of??.
elder: 'yes.
i read through the material you asked me to at your judicial meeting - you're right we're both in a cult!

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
"It not only guarantees his safety, but makes it more difficult for someone to take a photo of him in an unfavourable situation. I donβt think the guy has kicked the booze."
Especially not now! I doubt it's pleasant being a "former" GB member, after what may have been a very heated robust series of discussions that got to this point.
I imagine that he doesn't do his own shopping for liquor. I still wonder if it was the visuals of Bottlegate that led to this.

"Well, the ecumenical Christmas carols service was a resounding success!"
"I can't do Saturday morning field service; I'm helping out "Meals on Wheels".
i assume no actual affiliation with bethel?

Apart from the "guardian spirits" aspect of the alchemical term Watchtower, The Tower is a significant tarot card.

And we get back to that two sided coin thing again:
Knowing it's wrong and believing it's true π
it's not only the jws who do door to door witnessing.
the independent baptists for the most part have "soul winning", mainly door to door witnessing and leaving tracts, as a tennet of their faith.
this discussion is interesting:.
Vidiot, I actually laughed when I saw that image! πΈ I've often wanted to have that conversation with JWs at the door: that even if the early disciples actually did go door to door, there was no magazine that they were peddling.
That they actually published that image is in reality a little disturbing. Do JWs really believe that there was a Bethel like factory, a scriptorium, that was churning out scrolls to be sold door to door?
did they hope that everybody who read the1969 awake as a kid is too senile to remember?.
.
titch, an ankle length dress was "casual"? Was there some sort of reasoning like "Business women wear skirts below the knee, which makes them more formal"? Or was the elder just an idiot?
As you say: "Just how long is a Sister's dress supposed to be be, in order to be pleasing to Jehovah, (Yahweh)?"
prompted by a mention in a different thread.. cracks in the sidewalk, a pinch of salt over the shoulder, black catsπββ¬; do jws have such superstitious beliefs.
are they allowed to?
would they be counselled if the elders became aware?.
Do you think that the hysterical beliefs were more likely to be held the further a JW was from any responsibility within the organisation? I.e. were the elders expected to keep a lid on it and maintain discipline, but they tolerated it within the ranks?
I remember once being told by someone in my former church that Smurf means "demon" in Swedish (never mind that Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs, was Belgian!) π
Oh, and that Steven Spielberg once had a dream about a demon, and that demon became E. T. π

There are some very well drafted NDAs out there, that's for sure. And I suggest that those who are in the know, and could leak, are known, and therefore any leaks could be traced. And they've all signed NDAs anyway.
So we may never find out. Of course, there's always the chance of a deathbed tell-all confession. It's unlikely. There are plenty of now deceased higher ups who could have published their memoirs posthumously, but didn't. It all comes down to that discussion we keep having, do they really believe the stuff they say they believe?

When you were doing the door to door work, could you sympathise with the anxiety a lot of these posters seem to feel? If you had been able to discuss the issue freely with fellow JWs, without fear of being disfellowshipped or at least cautioned, do you think that those discussions would have looked very similar to these?
