"A pioneer? Is that someone like Daniel Boone?"
"We don't sweat the small stuff"
"Live and let live"

a slightly tongue in cheek, but also serious roundup of jw speak and why trying to reason with them is like trying to chip through concrete with a plastic spoon.. how many can you think of??.
elder: 'yes.
i read through the material you asked me to at your judicial meeting - you're right we're both in a cult!

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
Vidiot, that is a fun scenario. Unfortunately, not likely to happen in the real world. Tony out drinking in public is the last thing any of them would want, including himself. Too much chance of another Bottlegate or your scenario playing out. Besides, as previously discussed, he quite probably believes what he preached. It's highly unlikely he'd want to hang out with "the worldly" and apostates; we know from his videos that he despised them. Someone else will be buying his booze, and he'll be consuming it privately, perhaps with a small group of friends (if he has any).
A thought just crossed my mind: instead of kicking him out or demoting him, why didn't they just kick him sideways? They could have just created a new position and title for him , eg. Consultant to the GB. He could still have attended board meetings and argued for the hardline position, just couldn't vote. It'll probably always be a mystery what really happened.

"Something tragic happened to someone from another faith? How terrible! I'll be praying for them."
"Of course we should be paying sales tax on our publications!"

mens suits etc--with that discrete blue j,worg label inside.

enoughisenough: "but JWs wouldn't idolize, now would they?"
Of course not! ๐ฟโฉ๏ธ๐ป๐

Anony Mous: "...Caleb and Sophia branded stuff"
Seriously?๐ฑ I suggested that on another thread as a joke! ๐ฑ Is there a pithy line about giving your icecream money to the GB on the t-shirts? ๐
What about Sparlock toys?
with what is arguably the biggest change to jw life in recent decades (the scrapping of publishers counting hours) what does this lead to?.
in my mind these are the results;.
1) a massive decrease in 'preaching hours'.
Vidiot : "Itโs pretty apparent by now that theyโre really anxious about staying solvent, and if projections indicate that mainstreaming is the only way to stay in the black, they donโt really have much of a choice"
If this is their conclusion, that they need to go mainstream to survive, it's got some major flaws. One being that the mainstream denominations are already mainstream, and they are struggling to keep attendance up, let alone attract new members.
The other is your main point. Going mainstream means that they are just one religion among many and lose their main carrot ๐ฅ and stick ๐.

"It not only guarantees his safety, but makes it more difficult for someone to take a photo of him in an unfavourable situation. I donโt think the guy has kicked the booze."
Especially not now! I doubt it's pleasant being a "former" GB member, after what may have been a very heated robust series of discussions that got to this point.
I imagine that he doesn't do his own shopping for liquor. I still wonder if it was the visuals of Bottlegate that led to this.

Apart from the "guardian spirits" aspect of the alchemical term Watchtower, The Tower is a significant tarot card.
