why don't german police just use guns?.
Diogenesister, that quoted caption doesn't even work properly as a sentence. Let alone the fact that it reads wrongly in a factual sense. To quote the professor in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe: " What are they teaching in schools these days?"

this comedy sketch would not have been as funny to me were it not for tony's obsession with tight pants.. cheers.
Was he also obsessed with short shorts?

I don't often agree with Vienne, but Vienne is 100% 💯 right here. I see a post by aqwsed12345, whether starting a new thread or within someone else's thread, and it's pages long. I personally refuse to read a post that's more than a few paragraphs (with occasional exceptions); I don't have infinite time on my hands. I treat it like it's spam.
Distill your posts down to a couple of paragraphs. And actually reply personally to other people's posts; don't cut and paste another three pages of text. Are you not capable of writing a few paragraphs that address an issue?
DesirousOfChange, yes, it's just a wall of text. 🙄
Edited to correct pronouns. 😸 (Well, to remove them altogether)
the upcoming governing body update, set to be released on friday this week, will feature a bearded samuel herd.. jwtalk website revealed the leak, so this thread will be used to speculate the content of the update and discuss the actual contents after its release..
Dude! I love that clip! Although you're right: I always feel exhausted 😴 after watching him dance. 😸
after over 100 years...watchtower helps the poor of nyc...by leaving!!
jehovah's witnesses hotel becomes affordable housing.
developed by breaking ground, 90 sands brings new housing opportunities to brooklyn.. .
Why am I not surprised that the WT would renege on a commitment and not keep their word. It's almost as if they believe that it is okay to lie! 😳🙄 🤥
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
"(i know tony didn't get "disfellowshipped" officially but he may as well have)"
He's definitely persona non grata. Whether he jumped or was pushed, the results are the same. It seems to parallel the whole disfellowshipping vs disassociation difference. There is no substantial difference at all.
I've said before on this subject that if there was nothing negative or personal going on with Tony leaving the GB, they could have promoted him sideways to become a department head or to an imaginary position of seeming, but little actual, importance. Executive Assistant to the GB* or some such.
* Or Permanent Secretary to the Department of Administrative Affairs 😸😸😸
as an educated guess, the august 2024 watchtower may be delayed because 2 complicated subjects need to be discussed in this issue which haven't yet been approved to be included in the revised shepherding textbook.
perhaps the revised shepherding textbook must be finalised before this watchtower is released publicly.. the 2 subjects may be as follows:.
how to shepherd and appoint brothers based on the removal of the hour requirements, getting to know the brothers instead (does this mean prioritising appointing men who have auxiliary pioneered during the co visit and campaigns or men who are regular pioneers?).
Just had a brief skim through the article about being doers of the word. James gives examples of what that means, like clothing the naked and feeding the hungry. I knew as soon as I saw the title that the official WT stance on what being a doer of the word would be different from my intuitive interpretation. And I was right. They tell you to take time out from attending to family needs and looking after sick relatives, to instead focus on the preaching work. IOW, they see saying "Be filled, be clothed" without helping the person materially in those matters, as being a doer of the word. They have come away with the exact opposite interpretation of what being a doer of the word means. 🙄

"It's not conversational, but is very stilted."
That seems to be par for the course with most attempts to translate bible events on to the big (and small) screen(s). Even the big bible epics from back in the day seem stilted and lacking in conversationality*".
* Pardon my word coinage! 🥴
yeah wow women can finally wear pants and men beards...but 1914 is still a date not accepted since charles russell times and blood fractions are evil!!.
are they crazy!!!
!.
I've been looking up the Russell stuff in light of the "something happened in 1914, so Russell was right" assertion. Quotes are from this article:
https://www.thearda.com/us-religion/history/timelines/entry?etype=5&eid=120
"In 1870, he heard an Adventist preacher named Jonas Wendell, who impressed the young Russell with his application of logical thinking to the Bible. Wendell, a former follower of millenarian preacher William Miller, predicted the bodily return of Christ in 1873 or 1874. Inspired, Russell started a Bible study in Pittsburgh and eagerly awaited the second coming. Rather than being disheartened by Christ's failure physically to return by 1874, Russell believed that Christ had indeed spiritually manifested himself in the hearts of those waiting for him that year, inspiring Russell to write his first book, The Object and Manner of the Lord's Return."
So Russell did the "invisible return" move to explain away 1874.
"Barbour and Russell believed that Christ's invisible return in 1874 would be followed by 40 years of evangelism and then, in 1914, the Age of Gentiles would end and God's Kingdom on earth would begin."
1914 becomes the new "THE" date.
"When 1914 arrived, and with it World War I, some Russellites began to question Russell's chronology. Mass, industrial warfare did not strike them as the proper fulfillment of the millennial kingdom."
Even Russell's followers at the time weren't convinced that WWI amounted to anything in the prophetic scheme of things!
As we know, 1914 later became the new "invisible return" and, presumably*, the start date for the generation that would not pass away. Good luck finding anyone still alive who could have read Russell's predictions about 1914 before 1914. 🙄
* To any apologists who might argue that I've got this date, or that term, or the other assumption wrong: I don't care. That stuff changes all the time, as it did back then. If I've got something wrong, I'm probably in good company with many people who have tried to get a bead on JW end times doctrine. It's very hard to precisely hit a target that is forever moving and changing.
