I'm sorry if my post came across as though I was trying to blame the victims. I'm as horrified by their suffering as anyone else.
What is happening to the perpetrator? When is his trial?

old habits die hard...and quite often in my comments i will refer to the borg as the 'truth'.
does anyone know of any other churches that refer to their own particular church or religion as the 'truth'??
also, does anyone know how it originated...all my life i have used the term...comments like 'how long have u been in the truth?
I just found this old thread. If no-one said it, I think that the Christadelphians refer to their beliefs as "the Truth".
But the real reason I brought this BTTT is to ask about JW apologists like yadirf. What happened to them? Are there no JWs convinced enough of their rightness that they would come to this board to let the apostates have it?
There are a few here who still have some sympathy for some WT doctrine, but think that the society or the GB is corrupt; they're not of the same ilk as yadirf and people like him from the early years of this discussion board. Has the enthusiasm for WT apologetics dried up?

time for a new business model?.
.
I thought as much; I can't see any government providing such a large and exploitable loophole! 😱
Were these "conditional donations" a loan for a purpose, when they've got some project on?

Blondie: "...conditional donation arrangement (donor can ask for it back)...It was timed for November, so jws would be encouraged to give in time for claiming for tax purposes that year".
Was this an outright tax rort? That a sum could be donated and a tax deduction claimed, and then the WT paid it back as though it were a loan?

Okay, maybe saying "the organisation" here is a bit strong. It was a table full of JWs.
Can anyone here verify that such a scene is possible? Were groups of JWs on social outings likely to have behaved in this manner, in the experience of people here?
just watched november broadcast very different order to the leaked agm .
be good if someone did a deep dive on the difference and why the changes?
i didn’t time the items but it should be easy to see if edited?.
I want to see long-haired JW Nazirites going door to door! 👍🙀

They could just sell appointments. They've published enough articles about Simony to prove that it is rife in the organisation; it's not like the WT to not take advantage of any money making opportunity.
Actually, I take that back. They are too stupid and stubborn to recognise which way the wind is blowing. They had a nice little publishing company going, with free labour selling their product door to door. At the first whiff of them having to follow their own rhetoric to "pay to Caesar what is Caesar's" (sales tax), they scuttled the whole profitable enterprise.

I just remembered a striking similarity from the early 70s. Compare Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky with Alvin Stardust's My Coo Ca Choo. I'm surprised no ambulance chasing lawyers went after that one.

When hours worked in field service translated into sales of WT and Awake!, counting hours could be roughly translated into spirituality, WT style, that is, dollars earned for the organisation. Perhaps they will have to become more direct in equating dollars with spirituality. Maybe different tiers of donation. Everyone at the Kingdom Hall gets to wear a badge (purchased from the WT, of course!) displaying what level of "generosity" they demonstrated that month through their giving.
They could, of course, resort to outright Simony and just sell appointments.
