how many can you think of.... they speak for god.. it would seem presumptuous to say they speak for god,.

they are neither inspired nor infallible.. they are god's only channel for issuing truth here on earth.

they won't be apologising for any errors/falsehoods they have promoted in the past that fail.. congregation members must be quick and apologise for their errors to avoid harsh discipline/disfellowshipping.. when they change a major belief/doctrine you must not complain or criticise them.

Their very structure is that of a business. It probably didn't look much like a religion under Russell, and certainly didn't once Rutherford got his claws into it.

I managed to find most of the "especially the lies" episode. You're right about the malfunctioning device in his head, it's also the one where he let the kids go. Given that the episode was highlighting how little objective truth comes from Garak, I wonder if that incident even happened.

It's always interesting when we start readjusting our thinking after jettisoning something we held dear. We start to notice patterns, real or imagined, that we wouldn't dare speculate before.

ATM, you're having fun with your new freedom to look at things critically. You'll notice things. Some of the biggest WT gotchas were with people innocently noticing things that others wouldn't have. I believe the UN fiasco was discovered by someone simply reading a list of NGOs and seeing the WT on there. "Hey, wait a minute...", he must have said to himself.

Sometimes we find things that are an actual smoking 🚬 gun 🔫. And sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar. Continue to enjoy yourself as you explore life outside the Tower! 👍😁🧙🖖

Where is Tony?

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

Vidiot, that is a fun scenario. Unfortunately, not likely to happen in the real world. Tony out drinking in public is the last thing any of them would want, including himself. Too much chance of another Bottlegate or your scenario playing out. Besides, as previously discussed, he quite probably believes what he preached. It's highly unlikely he'd want to hang out with "the worldly" and apostates; we know from his videos that he despised them. Someone else will be buying his booze, and he'll be consuming it privately, perhaps with a small group of friends (if he has any).

A thought just crossed my mind: instead of kicking him out or demoting him, why didn't they just kick him sideways? They could have just created a new position and title for him , eg. Consultant to the GB. He could still have attended board meetings and argued for the hardline position, just couldn't vote. It'll probably always be a mystery what really happened.
