  anyone have a quince tree?

  we found one growing by a large brick building and picked some fruit last summer.

  a bit too far north normally but this one survives.

  i've mentioned before how i've wondered how tony morris must have felt when he was sacked.

  yes, i know he's a rehensible human being who got served a healthy dose of karma, or, if you like, divine judgement.

  to go from having all there is to have within the world he lived in, to where he is now; that's a long fall.

  By putting this up for discussion, I have learned things that I was initially unaware of. I've modified some of my underlying assumptions accordingly. At the end of the day the facts are few and far between, and speculation is all that's available. I wouldn't make the same opening statement as I did at the start of this thread now, because we've had some robust discussion about what little is known regarding this case.

  Diogenesister, it was when you brought that up earlier that I realised that the whole Bottlegate thing was probably more heat than light. And then found out how long ago it was.

  shunning the congregation

  i was watching a youtube by jerome about religious freedom part 2. it was so disgusting to see the two jw testifying that instead of the congregation shunning those who disassociate, it is the person who disassociates that is choosing to shun the congregation.

  the commissioners kept asking why someone who had been sexually abused had to be shunned if they disassociated ....jdubs talked in circles and never answered the question.

  so glad i woke up and got out ...to support the org is a reproach to anything decent..

  Where is Tony?

  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  On Bottlegate and embarrassing the WTS, I didn't realise how long ago that was. It was at least five years ago; I was under the impression that it was more recent, and therefore some sort of smoking gun regarding Tony's removal/retirement. That he was some sort of conservative holdout and needed to make way for fresh blood makes more sense now, especially with the recent changes.

  Vidiot, that thought crossed my mind too. The leaking probably took them by surprise and forced them to make new arrangements. If that's the case, it's to their credit: they managed to cover their tracks this time. The housing situation was the one thing that leaked. If they've rehoused Tony, then they've stopped that from leaking. They've really got a tight lid on this case of Tony's "retirement". They rarely maintain this level of security.

  Of course, the JW apologists will write it off as apostate rewriting of history. Perhaps Harold Mouritz was listening to apostates in 1972? 🙄
